Title: Aaz power steering on a 1.6?
Post by: shwak23 on October 20, 2013, 07:54:31 am
The pump and bracketry should bolt up, correct? I currently have a MK1 non ac alternator mount installed. The aaz power steering brackets seem 1000x times better designed than the MK2 design. Plus as far as I can tell they are completely independent of the AC/Alternator brackets. Which is obviously beneficial when one is not running the original MK2 ac bracket.

Just wanted to be 100% sure they would bolt up perfectly. I would hate to get there and find one flaw that would ruin my day.

I know the pumps are different - the AAZ pump won't mount in the 1.6 bracket or vice versa. So you will have to use the pump that goes with the bracket.

Past that I can't say for sure. I thought the AAZ PS pump bracket attached to the alt bracket but I could be wrong.

It may slightly but not as awkwardly as it does to the 1.6.

Or should I say not in a way that would overly concern me if that one bolt was left out.

Didn't quite understand if you have a mk1 golf or mk2. But if you are trying to put an AAZ pump on a mk1 PAS beware that the pipe fittings are different on the pump.

I have a Mk2 pump on my Mk3 so the fittings between Mk2 and Mk3 are the same... :)
