Title: Seat color change
Post by: stewardc on September 23, 2013, 04:07:01 am
I've been looking for a nice set of dark blue low-back seats for the Caddy, but all I can find are light gray. Has anyone on here ever changed seat color without reupholstering? I understand that there are spray dies one can use, but am not sure of the results. Anyone ?

In my experience they work good on vinyl and OK on fabric but not great.

I would reupholster. It's not as expensive as people expect it to be. Shop around.

I'm lazy and just use seat covers.

(Sheepskin/fleece is comfy, btw.)

I've used the duplicolor spray dye available at auto parts stores and turned my white rabbit convertible seats black. I used flat black and it worked very well. Door cards also came out great. It takes armorall very nicely and still feels like "leather"

Hmmm, I suspect they were all-vinyl seats though. These are all fabric seats.

Ahh yes they were vinyl seats. Says cloth right on the can though.
