Title: WTB: mk1 turbo diesel airbox setup
Post by: damac on September 22, 2013, 12:10:41 am
I need a couple setups for the mk1 chasis for turbo diesel 1.6.  Not sure exactly all parts needed as I have never seen one.

Will this box fit the mk2 intake rubber hose?

I think the mk1 TD air box had an oblong/oval shaped outlet where it connects with the hose. On the mk2 it's round.

But a MK2 airbox will fit a MK1.

mk2 fits but poorly and not very secure.

You can combine the tops to the bottoms of the mk1 and mk2...for instance an MK1 bottom and MK2 top.

I never see these suckers at local junkyards.  I have mk2 stock setups but had cut the fenders out of 2 cars so that the little snap on piece could be fed through the other side and kind of hold things together and not push it into the vbelt, etc.

I almost blew my engine up a few months ago during a flash rain that came out nowhere and it started sucking it up on a short drive and left the box flooded with water past the filter.

Was hoping I could jamb the mk1 box onto the rest of my stock mk2 setup.

I guess I could block that side and open some kind of inlet on the other side and shove it somewhere but I hate to cut it up.

mk1 lower sounds like my best bet?
