Title: Replace Nozzles
Post by: rodpaslow on September 09, 2013, 11:40:02 am
I've looked in search and no dice!   In TDI newbie 101, is the nozzle replacement exactly like a IDI?  Shims are needed to adjust pressure?  where does one buy shims if needed.

I already have a pressure tester, just wanting to know if I can change these nozzles myself.  (.216 nozzles)

Here is a link on how to do it http://pics2.tdiclub.com/pdf/injector_install_howto.pdf

i was going to do it myself on my caddy with the new nozzles, but a place localy only charged me $15 each to clean, set the pressure, and in stall the nozzles. For that i'll gladly spend $60 and save me the time

I used the above link when I installed .205 nozzles into my AHU a few years ago. It is not really that hard to do. Best bang for the $$$ in my opinion.

TDI injectors are dual stage.  Most places don't have the equipment to check both stages, only the primary. In fact I know of only 2 places in the US that claim to be able to calibrate both stages.

Is it necessary to calibrate?  Well that can be a heated debate.

A nozzle swap is easy, if you just want to go that route. Unsure where to source the shims and I'm also unsure if IDI shims are the same.
