Hi All,are these bolts torque to yield [stretch] are they re-usable [with more blue locktite].

blue loctite and your good. I've reused them several times no issues.

If you are talking about the ones that are 12pt 9mm then yes, they are reusable.

Thanks both,the bolts i'm talking about fix the flywheel to the crankshaft [hex head].

Some reuse those some don't... I do and have several times in various applications with no issues. Those need cleaned off and re loctited to seal the threads and protects clutch from oil.

Officially they are one time use.

I reused mine on my build cause I was pressed for time and I didn't have another week to wait for parts. Not available locally. Just cleaned the threads and blue loctited. Been 12000 miles and no issues yet. But its always in the back of my mind and it scares me a bit.
When I do the clutch I'll replace them. . . Just for peace of mind. Just my .02 :)

Vw shop here been reusing them for 30 years. I went to buy new ones from them and he said I don't want you to waste your money.

These same shops sometimes put any old oil in the new TDI engines too...what spec? what camshaft? And everyone knows that the 505.xx and up are only to be used.
Just because someone does it doesn't mean it is the right way to do it. I have reused the pp to crank bolts before, but I will not now. Too much riding on it for me.

Its a very busy and reputable shop I even worked there for a few weeks. I would trust any of the techs there to work on my own vehicle. Vw says to replace so many bolts its rediculous. I agree though just because its done doesn't mean its right.. But honestly at this point id trust a reused german bolt over some potentially chinese piece of tin. who knows what you will get.. Moral of the story smoke them if you've got them run them if you don't(want to wait).

Myself, I go with new ones every time.
But, I'll admit it is kind of fun watching lab rats.

I save the old shoulderless ones for reuse but throw the TTY bolts.

Just a new seal or the whole flange? The seal alone is a real pain to install without leaking.

just the seal,i fitted the seal and housing last time but must have managed to twist the seal lips [i guess ] as the engine is tight [ 14 ft lb to turn the crankshaft at any point in a revolution].
The engine runs ok and has done for 5000miles.
