Title: 2000 Jetta Lift Pump?
Post by: Toby on July 22, 2013, 06:18:27 pm
Does a 2000 TDI Jetta have a lift pump in the tank or is the only supply pump inside the IP like in IDI VWs?
TIA
Jason

Not 100% sure but 98.5% that it doesn't. I put a filter on my 2001 and turned the key. It would not fill the filter. I had to crank it a ton.

I think BEW is the first to have an intank pump and that was 2004 I believe.

I suggest adding a lift pump either by the tank or in the engine bay. Saves the pump a lot of work lol.

I have a couple of gas caps with an airline fitting in the top. Hook that to a leakdown tester set on 3 psi and fuel runs uphill. Very nice for IPs that don't have much of a feed pump in them. 3 psi is not enough to blow the big/small rubber elbow off the tank but more than enough to bleed the air out of the system and even the IP if you are patient.
