going to be tossing in some re man injectors with pp520 nozzles done by DBW llc. tips on pulling and installing?
-
look down in this section at stuck injector... thats the only tip..
-
clean around inj. bodies(air) spray some PB Blaster or Kroil oil around them night before. I use a older slide hammer dent puller. Put a 1/4" bolt thru a inj. line cap into the slider hammer cap then thread on to inj. you want to pull(head must be bolted on engine or to something heavy) normally 2-3 pulls they're out. Tried it once with head on the ground, played with it for hours gave up come back later still no luck bolted it back on block. 5 minutes all inj out. I've had my slide hammer for many years. I see the newer ones are lighter weight. I think mine is 4-5 lbs.

I got 3 of the 4 out with channel locks, with out too much trouble.
I eventually got number 4 too, but it was a lady of the evening.

<------shaking head... why did you not twist it with a wrench? think 17m fits it perfect.. even has the curve of th einjector body to fill the curve of the wrench.. seriously.. they made ot use a wrench on them..
-
I read that the injector nozzles have some small pins that align them to the injector body. If the nozzle itself is stuck and you twist the body with a wrench all the force is put on those small pins potentially breaking them. If you break em you need to replace the injector body.
That said, I used the wrench method to remove my injectors in my TDI head.

The tip and top portion of the injector are separated by clamping that 17mm area and unscrewing the tip. My one caveat for trying to undo them with a wrench is that you should always rotate CW or you run the risk of unscrewing the two parts of the injector.

When this happens.. good luck getting the rest of the injector out :) lol.

or just screw it in and use a slide hammer.

No leverage on the wrench, and it was slipping off bending open my wrenches! lol
-
I'm still stuck on mine... even the side hammer won't budge them. Not sure what to do next.

I went to oreillys and bought a big slidechammer and made an adapter out of 2 nuts and a welder. this way I can keep the adapter and return the slide hammer when I'm done. I like the rental tool feature helps keep down the clutter in my garage.

I made my own using spare Vw parts kicking around the shop. The only part not pictured is a 02A flywheel for more weight.

Ha. Awesome. Maybe I just need to weld more weight onto my slide hammer.

That is the rule of all good mechanics. Give me a bigger hammer. That ought to fix it real good.
-
Yes even with 20 lbs I still had to hammer one of them 15+ times before it came out :o
-
Don't use qtips... :-[

looking for tips on getting stuck copper washer out.
-
Is the head on or off the engine?
-
on

Use a pick to clear out as much carbon as you can then tap it with a small punch. It should break free. You might be able to thread a bolt onto it if its ID is smaller than the nozzle hole.
-
Used a cv axle xzn 8mm bolt to get it out worked awesome.
-
So you hammered if in and tried unscrewing it basically?

I tapped on it to get a little bite into the copper then screwed it CW until it hit the alluminum and pulled and wiggled and it came out.
-
I see. You didn't use the triple square tool, but a M8x1.25 bolt.

No i used the xzn headed bolt and the triple square tool the key is that the xzn bolt had the taper on the end.
