What do you lot do? one engine re-builder in the UK re-uses them 33ftlbs+locktite.
Stretch bolts are no longer available from VW here in Spain!!

The stretch bolts are the same as used in the G60 petrol engines. I sourced mine from a FEBI distributor, the FEBI part number is 02124

i used arp bolts because they are the same price.

I wondered what people did when replacing bigend bearings?.

what engine?? the 1.6 did not have strech.. the 1.9 do and same as tdi from what i read..

the 1.8 gassers have a streach type of stud with goofy nuts.. the nuts have a groove/line down the flat sides..

Later 1.6 were stretch. I believe some of the early 1.6 were not. In any case, most people have reused them without problems, including me. Ideally it would be best to get new ones or ARP's.

Rally,when you re-use stretch bolts how and what do you tighten them to?.
