Title: who needs stickers?
Post by: CRSMP5 on April 21, 2013, 04:27:56 pm
well after pissing way 16 hours of my life.. my comp has a fresh reinstall... so now my vinyl cutter is once again in operation..

i need to do myself some vwdiesel.net stickers, turbo snails.. but i can do lots.. pic of graphic i can copy pretty easy..

7 years ago when i got it shipping was less.. materials were less.. i was doing sheet of paper cuts for $5 shipped.. aka what you can fill a sheet of paper with...

colors

bright blue
bright green
silver
yellow
gloss and satin black
gloss white
red
orange

are what i have in stock.. i can get any color though.. but if i have to buy a roll.. your paying for it.. this can vary from 35$ to 500+ depending on what it is.. i tend to trade you amount of stickers for cost of roll.. yes i make out.. will not lie.. but how ive done it for others.. aka back then 20$ roll = 4 sheets.. but made way way more... weeding is time consuming.. i deserve some for it..

its in todays price is $10 for sheet paper size shipped (usps big brown envolope unless we doing serious quanity).. i can do bigger, will cost more.. but more due to shipping at that point.. and my weeding time depending on the design.. we can find/make arrangements..

example.. i can size it to your dementions.. too..

and no the curves will be smoother.. that was 5 min work.. needs few more plot points to round it out..

fonts for text.. if i can dl it.. i can use it.. so find place i can dl a copy and its that easy.. they make flame letters and such..

i cannot "print" stickers.. so for multi colors i have to use multi pieces of vinyl.. but for how sunbaked and ozoned ive used the vinyl.. ill say 2 years till cracking/fading for large area.. colored strip cross top of windshield cracks vs just letters..  but it will dry out after time.. snow/ice bad..

now sizes.. my program pretty sweet.. i could do the side of a semi truck.. its just be in pieces..

i can do max 1 sheet cut.. 6"wide by i am thinking 56" long... i have to double check as its been a while..

Which Turbo Snail did you decide to use.  I thought at one time you were collecting them for this project.  Can we get a peek a boo at what you got so far?

Wow that was like a year or more ago.  Good luck.  I changed my pic for a bit.  Graphic still fits our wet and soggy coast the best.

Hey I'd be interested is seeing the choices esp. the turbo snail. Also any suggestions about sticker size?

I'd be in for one of the turbo snails printed a little larger (like 7" high) - it would be wicked on my trailer...

not happy with the "scrools" on the snail yet.. his snail was way pixulated but gave me general shape to redraw for porportions... 6" tall is what you seek.. or up to say 11" rember cut width/height.. one of them is 6" unless we splice stuff together..

a length of snail longer then height.. ;)

3.7"tall... 6.06" long..

1.7" tall... 10.11 long on diesel sticker..

little diesel inside for poo and giggle..

but idea is thats 1 piece of paper..

ill have a crappy screen shot up in min..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/vinyl/screensnail.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/vinyl/screensnail.jpg.html)

so how much would you pay at a show for 1???? why i want you to think of the value here.. im not looking to get rich.. but im not free either.. but think of a sticker you buy at a show... or even ebay.. 4$ +shipping..

beleive me they making bank real good.. back when i was in the rc thing big time.. had the forum.. the guy who was supposed to supply me my sight stickers pissed me off.. i took a advitizers money.. his 6mo fee.. saddest part i did not want him as a advitisor so gave him crazy price years before.. his 6mo fee paid for cutter shipped to door.. and 4 rolls of vinyl.. took under 30 days sellling 5$ sheets to pay in full the other rolls.. and all equipment i still have.. it really is silly how much people will pay.. and the actual cost..

im small scale.. i wanted stickers to give away at races.. i was willing to pay.. got burnt.. so got my own crap.. not bad investment for anyone who has what i lack... artistic skill... i can copy easy... but orifginal art.. not simple..

so think of me as show sticker guy who does it for less... and we can build crap together... goto ebay.. get link for auction with pic.. right click save.. 5 min later i have sticker... honestly.. it really is sad..

the work is in fixing pixelled stuff.. and weeding/getting sizes right.. problem w/small stickers is smaller details that sometinmes the blade just cannot do.. thats where a "printed" sticker is best... but hell i used to make paint masks for rc bodies with it..

p.s. this is my first step to building my jackrabbit... need to sell 70 sheets.. :D thats the cupkit/coilovers.. then another 70ish should pay for paint materials..  70ish more for interior shop seat stuff..  figure in 140 more for stupid along the way stuff..

ive got blades.. enough rolls to get started.. ill have to go buy more transfer tape soon.. but its not that bad..

so who needs stickers.. 350 sheets is the goal.. that will cover vinyl costs.. jack rabbit costs.. ill even have my "toasts" to give away at madness this year... did not have last year.. damb comp screw up..

Can't Remember,  I went to my base GIF and enlarged it to the max in Paint and the turbo spool appears to be more like raindrop shapes with no center hub.  Just the four dark shapes.  I wonder if the effect of the spool can't be done with curved lines, maybe 6 or 8 of them to  simulate the vanes on the impeller.  I might try to copy the center of what I have and see if I can come up with a better center core that what you currently have going.  It looks kind of German in a bad way if you get my drift.  Might entice someone to deface it rather than like it.  DAS

yea i was thinking maybe a figure 8.. the issue is how to 2d a 3d item..

also thinking a swirl may work better.. just give it a spooled effect.. but i cut one to see how it looks in size.. i likes.. but ill admit too big for most cars..

Tried to do a swirl and with the limited room in the circle it is kind of tight.  Only have a limited number of diagonals to play with.  Spent some time on it and this is the best I got out of my efforts.

aaaaahhhhhh you overlook a simple issue... cutting a "angle hair" line into a sticker easy... tyring to keep/use a fine line like that... never happen..

rethink my line art.. think of what is kept vs weeded.. yes the bad thing may look bad.. but it can be cut/used.. but it is almost too small to "weed" with 100% success.. of the 2 i cut.. aka 1 sheet.. one was ok.. the other i removed the "bad" piece and had to put it "back" as only way to save it..

why i am thinking some sort vortex.. so i can have say solid sticker with small lines to remove.. else it will need to be like pedals to a sunflower in some sort of figure 8..

it is the hardest piece of it...

p.s. the diesel inside.. i wanna fit it into the smoke trail.. :P it cut nice except i lost all the i dots...  where too small = fail.. but sharpie will fix if need be.. but if put into the smoke i can make the i dot the part thats weeded..

sadly how to do with snail turbine... not so simple.. :D i could make a "filler dot" in different color.. cut the "fins" into it and do it too if i had too..

some one must want free stickers.. shooting you a pm..

others... yes getting your own sticker made up can be that simple.. honestly a good quality black/white pic of something you draw on paper with a crayon can be made up..

my uissue.. the line art.. just not "artistic" in that way.. i can see in my head.. just getting drawn is hard.. he nailed what i want... sadly i cannot "sell" what its building.. no idea who owns the snail idea/design.. but i will have a sweet vwdiesel.net icon or badge if you will when done.. i will sell the stuff for you to apply how ever you want though.. ;)

just waiting on his reply on his line art.. feel as if i need to make him a few for his work... just how many..

Nice fix.  I thought on something like those shapes but I had more in mind and thus discarded the idea as it was too complex.  4 by 4 works, at least in my mind.

Maybe green snail and black smoke?  Any color combo?  Blue snail and white smoke for those that can't get the timing right?

Title: Re: who needs stickers?

mhmmmm wtf not letting me reply... we will see if i can mod it... getting stupid not allowed message..

crsmp5 at aol dot com is my email..

yes we can do multi color stuff just 2 sheets.. 1st sheet is flat rate $10 shipped..  additional sheets we can discuss.. it comes down to weeding/quanity....

winsheild banner sized stuff is 25.. i use the flat rate box to not fold stuff like that.. yea its like 3 sheets long.. but weeding cake.. box/shipping is 9ish..

when stamp = flat rate i just use one of those boxes..

choices.. endless.. if i can get a crisp black/white photo most of the time i can import it to my program.. click plot and its pretty close.. some touch up.. color pics work too.. but you need to think of the sticker as black white..

how to get pics.. print screen works well.. right click save as.. works too... choices.. any image posted on the web is fair game.. just rember copyrights.. im not going to jail for a sticker.. kinda why vwdiesel.net needs a icon.. they can have "virtual life"

you got ford, dodge, or even a  hundie.. no prob.. ill ink that too.. i can see bad jonnie peeing on multi cars.. why we lack a girl lifting her skirt to tinkle on a ford?? be creative people.. me going to work on tinkle now as that be bad idea....

the goal is to fit as much as i can on the paper sized sheets. if there is room for toast.. ill throw toast, or diesel inside.. or hell i can even do the turbine scrolls or other parts in a 2nd color..

my biggest issue is payment.. i lack paypal and bank accts.. paypal required bank acct... bank acct requires street mail box.. they refuse to ship checks/debit card to pobox due to 9-11 and i have effectively had no bank for over 6 years.. i refuse to allow banking info to be shipped to anyplace but my pobox.. so i guess i refuse to have a bank..

on this.. when i got my insurance dead mom check a month befor i got the toaster.. what built it.. that bank fded me at the tone of 210$ on the mailing addy.. when set up they were told po box.. they fought me.. they send debit card to po box.. then $ started to go missing.. they decided to keep sending mail to a street addy i told them did not exist at get this.. returned mail fee.. $30 a pop.. i cannot see my ever having another acct.. best part they wanted $ to close it.. guess what that ended with $ in neg as they kept sending mail to a place where mail boxes do not exist.. so since my owning toaster is almost 2nd b day.. i have 5 years till another acct can be opened unless i want to pay for them shipping mail that cannot be delevered.. all i opened it for was to cash a bank cert check from insurance company.. no bank willing to cash.. 21 day hold due to amount.. all i did was go in.. plan to withdraw in person..

i need to check with a few on paypal (id use their acct with a idea 1x a mo they send me a postal mo).. but honestly i love postal money orders.. they cash them... vs a bank that holds them or other moneyorders for 14 days..

ad theman hook me up with some snail sizing... no mk4 for me to quickly look at, and he had mk2 with doors attached too..

snail is like 4" long, 1.9" tall.. to keep him in porportion to the big one in the pic.. that sucker almost 8" long.. but i have big area for that with big grumman on top of it..

he also willing to play paypal guy for canadian and other orders where postal mo cannot be gotten/mailed to me.. temp/test/trial really prefer mo... but wanna get the out of country issue taken care of.. paypal is only way on that..

now if that size sounds good.. aka "common size" i can do a few in different colors for mix/match people.. just trade off colors of smoke/turbine so on.. or get a few sheets to play mix/match..

the idea on that size is so you can paster it on the fender between door/wheel like some cobra powered stang.. and we can add text below it for 1.6 td or what ever word you like..

since the idea is a "made to order" i do not plan to stock it.. i am also not going daily to the post office for a single order.. so we will say 1 week turnaround.. at min orders shipped on fri.. most all would have on a monday.. till usps messes the normal shipping up.. but if i had 5 orders a day.. ahh it would ship daily.. im just saying.. you will find i am too honest with my thoughts/words...

but made to order allows you to do custom sizes.. all i need is width/height.. if you have a image.. a max length or height i can keep it to scale by modding the max height or length and allow program to mod the other.. how my big snail got small :D

in theory.. my program sends the file to  printer too.. here i can send to normal printer to put on paper for test fit.. ill have to see how i can do such a thing in "notebook" for mail orders.. if your really seeking a perfect fit..

Just to clarify.  $10 per sheet + shipping?  Sheet is 8x10 in, can you mix and match images on a sheet, or  just one image - ie:  turbo snails, until the sheet is full?

And finally, and I hate to sound stupid, but can you have clear spots  - ie have an outline of snail, so car color shows thru = color of snail?

( i have no idea how technology works- after all, just got them Internets with the google on it out here on  in eastern canada

ad theman hook me up with some snail sizing... no mk4 for me to quickly look at, and he had mk2 with doors attached too..

ahhh just commin to add pics..

ok.. so what your saying is.. can it have a outline of a shell vs colored in? like turtle below?

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/vinyl/c.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/vinyl/c.jpg.html)
yea he part of collection now.. for those na people.. i had to add as i thought it was fun..

hot darla done to..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/vinyl/a.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/vinyl/a.jpg.html)

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/vinyl/b.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/vinyl/a.jpg.html)

have not decided on the eyes yet..

as for sheet.. yea the idea is to get as many on 1 sheet as you can (we can resize/mirror/rotate things very easily).. and yes $10 is shipped even to canada for 1 sheet (adittional is more but not at $10/sheet, gets heavy pretty quick but think of 2 sheets as 15, 3 as 20.. then we get to flate rate boxes at $25/4 sheets but this is negoatiable as honestly depends on amount of weeding/material).. the us people add in other countries tend to even out.. the only time canada/other countries gets more is when i cannot use a flat rate box..

work area for this..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/mo%20bs/1.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/mo%20bs/1.jpg.html)
is the cutter.. side removed as there is a lever w/spring that holds tension on the roller rod.. it gets hung up after 75 or so sheets.. then does not track right.. so never put cover back on as every so ofter i just flick it to get it unsprung/hungup.. for the cutter cost back in 07 when i go tit.. well worth it.. fo the only silly issue i have had..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/mo%20bs/2-1.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/mo%20bs/2-1.jpg.html)
my custom table for this.. yes its a door.. uses the chains so i can fold it down when not in use.. just unhook.. the contractor loved this when i did it.. it was left over.. and i saw not reason to throw it away..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/mo%20bs/3-1.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/mo%20bs/3-1.jpg.html)
stuff in this case over 25 years old when i built it..

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/CRSMP5/mo%20bs/4.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/CRSMP5/media/mo%20bs/4.jpg.html)
sweet siku w. german hotwheels.. cabby, caddy, bunny..

Yea, my car color is here:

So I was thinking either black turbosnail sticker, or an outline of the snail (body color shows thru) and black smoke.

i will start working on a snail like turtle in cut out design..

now the idea why i showed blue/red combo.. i can mix/match the parts too.. say hollow shell, full colored snail so on.. i just need a idea of what your seeking..

ill redo/mod the line art.. save as a new file.. and copy/paste things as needed.. the time consumng part is the line art.. but once done can make 100000s.. so do once.. and will earn forever.. the next consuming part is weeding.. aka removing all the stuff not wanted.. this is where too small/thin a line gets hard.. turtle worked great.. but my snail 3x as big.. so.. big one yep... smaller one.. we can try.. much thinner lines then turtle has will never work... but reverse it to where big square/retangular/ovel sticker.. think of turtle as white sticker stuck on red car.. can be done..

where do you wanna put it on the mk1? i have 2 here i can size it up on..

hows that in size? like i said was really unhappy with the line style.. just cut like poo and look like poo.. would need to be much larger for line style.. but as you can see i like the dark between tails.. expecily when you darken the tails like i do via overspray..

I think we all need these on the trunk lid or hatch on the drivers side.  Might have to go measure that distance for one I would put opposite the Rabbit diesel on the other side.    Looks pretty good to me.

if i go smaller the turbine fins have to become 1 piece.. they cannot go smaller and expect to stick/weed correctly.. the odd shape casues the blade to lift it.. but can be done... for the otherside you need a set of question marks... or like other side of that plate.. a pooper can.. LOL..

happened to be only snail left of the 20 or so i took to the show.. why it on the right.. pluse pooper in way on left..

I'm not allowed to have a snail yet :( but when I get my turbo on I'll order one up ! I'm interested in a small vwdiesel.net decal too for my right rear window.

Can you have a solid snail with the letters for vw diesel punched out of it ??

i bought a vinyl cutter  for my shop a while back, well i traded for a vinyl cutter and then bought out a complete copy shop with a heat press and massive ammounts of supplies and also bought a complete screen printing setup... all for the shop of course.  ;D I made about 40 shirts the first week and havent gotten around to making any more. For the shop i just used the vinyl cutter and the heat press to make shop shirts. Its kind of a pain at times to get the stuff to adhere good.  Most of it sits now, i need to get back at making cool vw stuff again. I've been working on several different mk1/mk2 diesel shirts but haven't gotten the screens made up or the shirts bought. I don't have a point really, just rambling.

I have no clue why I thought it was Brian, but I have it in my phone as Brian. Of course I suck with names super bad so that may be part of it. Sorry about that, my bad. At least I got it to start with the right first letter which is usually closer than I normally get.

Might also be why I hate my family reunions. There are about 100 people who I know their faces and life details, but cant remember their names to save my life.

 ;D

20 t shirts like 12 each... else closer to 20 each for less... why i have not "stock piled" toast shirts for myself... ill do a 20+ order.. just need extra funds.. know how that is...

but no tax/shipping.. i can pick up in person.. next year soggy toast shirts will be needed.. so ill do 5 or so of them.. and 15 or so toast ones.. we will just plan them out for gtd or madness meet..

the more i do the better the price... but i have to cover and prepay for the shirt stock.. more costs less.. then honestly.. its only a few $ per shirt to print them off...

If you are just doing them single color you could get a heat press for like $100 off of craigslist and some t-shirt vinyl and just make them up as needed buying the shirts from walmart. Ours has a pretty good selection of Haynes Beefy Ts in several colors for around $4. I do all of my shop shirts this way and have prototyped a few designs and short runs this way. Another idea on the same line but a digital print is Sthals Direct. http://www.stahls.com/home You can upload your full color design, have them printed and die cut you your shape and the send them to you. They are pretty cheap too, like $.13 a sq inch on some of their stuff. You still have to heat press them on thouh.

Gildan blank tees are what all the big t shirt designers are using nowadays, but they're expensive individually at 8 bucks a T.  But they're tough and preshrunk to boot.  Wholesalers sell them at less than $2.50, though, so if you buy in bulk then I'd still recommend them.  All the Bugout shirts I own are Gildan, and they're tough as a b!tch.

Also I vouch for the quality of Chris' vinyl cuts; have a turtle and evil toast slice hanging in the back window, and they're goooood.  Only gripe I have is that you can tell it's line art, but that's only in the turny bits, and I'm a picky little so-and-so anyway so don't mind me I guess.

the more points you add th ebetter the cut.. toast god started as square box.. i drew him from that.. :D im happy..

but im talking the silk screen stuff... and bingo on the shirt brand... even the high quality rc shirts we got free at events are holding up so good if i do more it will be them... ill pay for the long life aspect..

I'm a Haynes Beefy Tee guy myself. Like them better the Gildan. But they are like $4 in color, verses the Gildan 2.50. I bought them for my shop when I screen printed the first run of shirts I did. I need to buy more shirts and print them again.

I haven't tried but im sure it could be done easily enough. Or heat press vinyl would probably be easier than screen printing.

Simple. Silk Screening is old technology. Digital printers will print on ANY media.
