Title: WTB: K14 TURBO
Post by: iheartbeets on March 12, 2013, 11:43:46 am
Looking for a rebuild-able core.  Something reasonably priced.  Mine has suddenly decided to start lubricating the exhaust. ::)  Ideal candidate would just need to be resealed.  Mine has a tube that connects to the oil return.  Like this:

It also has the trapezoidal flange like this:

Any help is greatly appreciated. ;D

whats wrong with re-building the one you have currently?

prolly just needs seals, the bearings, and wheels are likely fine..

The Turbo rebuilder in Ohio has a one day turn around on most turbos. So shipping both ways, it would be down less than a week. Plus I have seen several turbos he rebuilt and they are perfect. Just an idea.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have sourced a core.  Looks like I'll be sending it to Ohio when I get it. If I had another car to drive for the time being, it wouldn't be such an issue but the truck is at the body shop.  Never hurts to have a spare laying around anyway. I think I can deal with the ridiculous oil consumption for a few more days.  :D

Maybe, unless the engine runs away...

The oil is leaking past the seals into the exhaust. Not the intake. I checked it. So should be safe. New k14 on the way
