I am starting to play around with building a TD pump with parts from a Peugeot TD pump and a VW NA pump to make it a TD pump to be eventually installed into my 92 Eco D.
First question: pic is a Peugeot LDA capsule from one of 4 Peugeot TD pumps that I have. When I pressurized it to 15 psi, it does not hold pressure for long nor do I see any movement in the pin. It bleeds down from 15 psi to zero in about 3 seconds. The other Peugeot pumps I have holds 15 psi (for a minute or more) but I have not taken the pump tops off them (yet) to see how much the pin moves. What usually causes the pin to jam and the leak? I've put shaving cream on the adjustment nut and the breather and it is not leaking there. Gonna take the 4 slotted screws off the cap to have a look inside.

you can put 6 bar for 20 sek on VE pump,best,and like you have to change all seal to put in water.

it shouldnt leak, and it should atleast move with 15psi to it...
dont you have 4 PUG pump tops? just toss that one to the side, and use one of the good ones..
or do you feel that you HAVE TO use that particular pump top?

Yes I have 3 other good PUG pump tops. The leaky top is for practice on so I don't mess up the good ones. Make sense lol?

I want to take the pin out and not sure what has to come off next.
There's a plug that takes a 5 mm (I think) allen as shown in this pic which will not budge with heat and impact. Does it have to come off to get to the pin?

Anyone try cleaning the exterior of the injection pump (after sealing all openings) by blasting with ice crystals?

Which pin are you trying to remove? The boost pin? It is caught on the small lip at the bottom of the boost pin,a few sharp raps downwards should free it up. That front plug doesn't not need removed to get it out, neither does anything else you removed unfortunately.

I got the boost pin out, only by putting the nut on it and prying. Is there an o-ring in there and that's what was holding it? I could not insert the boost pin back in easily (the horizontal pin was not in the way). I am wondering what is going on inside there?
Anyway, now I know I removed more parts than necessary in getting the boost pin out. That's ok for learning purposes in total pump disassembly.
