Title: 2.5 l5 Audi AEL spool with hx25?
Post by: A.Dutsov on December 27, 2012, 10:27:59 pm
I am thinking to compound hx25 and hx35 i have for an AEL 140hp 2.5 engine, but i dont want to early spool up, how do you think the hx25 will spool? i cant find many specs on this turbo from internet, but i think its similar to TD04HL-13T:

exhaust wheel
outside diameter, inducer 52mm
exducer 45.6mm
tip width 8.9mm

compressor wheel
inducer 40.64mm
big diameter 56mm
tip width 4.98

exhaust housing 8.5cm2

i think the holset have smaller exhaust hausing, and a little bigger compressor inducer with anty surge ... but its pretty similar turbo ...
so i need it to spool around 1500 and then spool the hy35 or hx35 i have both, with 9, 12, 14 and 16cm housings, so i can match them ... till lets say 5000 rpm, i dont have power goal, i want to make as much as possible, without blowing the engine, and keep it stock internals for now. i will use external wastegates for both turbos, the first one with spring only, with 1.5 bar setting, and the second one i think to use my ex racecar greddy profec b boost controller, as i can smooth the boost if i need to, and i can better controll it. What do you think, how will this theoretically work?

All I can say is that I think hx25 would spoil fast especially in compound

The 4BT guys seem to consider it all done by 200HP.
