Ok I'm about to do something some will think is lame but I thought I'd give it a chance. I love my 84 JETTA turbo diesel it's the best thing in a long time I had av fun car. I've been fighting cancer for 7 years. I may only be 25 but I feel 75. I have very little funds and I was hoping some of you can help me out and build my dream car. I can use anything you like to contribute to a sick boy trying to fulfill my dreams.. thankyou

x2?

WELCOME!
I don't have many stock piled parts but I, among others, have vast vast knowledge. What are you looking to do?

Thank you very much. I need to replace my clutch and was wondering what tips or tricks would help. I have a Bentley manual. Whats a good clutch kit? How much is it to have one of these 5 speeds rebuilt for the turbo diesel. I recently rear-ended a Cummins flat bed but I'm getting all the stuff for that. I would like to change the head gasket which I have and head stud it. Then do some turbo stuff eventually. Anybody know where to get timing tools cheap. I guess I need to get some specialty tools as well I'm guessing some of you know where to find the good stuff. Pm me if you have any cheap parts or good ideas. Thank you very much for your help

hey I haven't been on in a while. wow everyone seems so supportive. I really want to make it a fast little car thats fun in the corners you know ralley capable. I'm probably gonna have to start a new post

go turbo then.1!
strip as much as you can from the interior, add some nice suspension and tires and have fun!

That's my plan. I have head studs to stud the engine, I also purchased the timing tools for the verticuler pump. I would love to put a twin scroll turbo on it and build my own exhaust manifold which I plan on doing anyway since I have the tools to weld. I have a spare Garret GT3267 turbo that I may be able to put in. I guess it came off a Cummins 4bbt engine. I can try to put it in but then I need to ad a blowoff valve or wastegate since its a floating turbo.
Would it be safe to use a floating turbo system with these 1.6l Diesel engines?
What other suggestions do you recommend for making my car into a sweet ride?
What have you done that makes your car fast?

I don't think you'd have ANY hope of spinning that turbo with a 1.6L engine. Simply does not move enough air.
You'd be surging the turbo the entire time.
