Title: NA mech head vs Td hydraulic head
Post by: bbob203 on December 17, 2012, 09:16:16 am
Whats the difference between them. Would I benefit from a ported mech head on my currently hydro eco td? I have a potentially useable na mech head wondered if i could benefit from it.

a little bit but at the cost of more maintenance.  not really worth the work imo.

I might consider it for a race car, but not a daily driver.

AIUI, solid lifters provide more precise action for high rpm cycles, but at the penalty of manual adjustment and a nice mechanical ticky ticky sound.

The blocks are also different so you can't just plop a mechanical head on your hydro motor, not w/o some work on the oil drain in the front of the block anyway. How big are the cracks between valves on the mechanical head?
