Title: Factory Diesel Heater?
Post by: ORCoaster on December 02, 2012, 07:28:28 pm
What the heck is this?  Is it actually factory or a modification of a standard flange with an electric fuel heater in the side.   Anyone seen this before.  Guy is advertising it as a WVO heater.  But maybe it could meet others needs for preheating diesel in them butt biting cold areas above the 48th.

I rekon it's a modded MK1 filter flange & banjo bolt. Not sure why there isn't also a bolt-heater on the outlet.

I never thought much of glowplugs in direct contact with un-atomized fuel (even 24V GPs).

Maybe the idea is to heat the WVO so it filters better as a thinner fuel and then actually heat it up to temp for the IP using a proper, ehm nonmodded part, like a FPHE.

Just thought it was over-rated but then maybe not.

I know a guy who did that, but instead of a GP, hw wired a brake light bulb inside the filter.
Funny thing is it never failed.

all the factory ones I've seen are a bigger coil with a lower surface temp.
