I know this is a silly question....but just wanted to make sure.
I have an adjustable injection pump pulley (1996 AAZ). How to I advance timing?
I have it timed perfectly now (flywheel marker spot on; cam locked and shimmed; timing pin in IP pulley), but want to play with a little advance. I loosen the 3 bolts on the pulley, then turn the center bolt....which way?

Looking at the pulley side of the motor, the IP turns clockwise. So to advance, the inner nut (the pump hub) turns clockwise more than the sprocket outer section.
-
- take the cam plate out
- take the IP pin out
- insert dial indicator into pump
- roll engine back until dial stops moving down
- adjust the dial so this measurement reads zero
- roll engine forward to TDC
- loosen 3 13mm sprocket bolts, use a 19mm wrench to hold the IP shaft from moving
- make sure engine is still at TDC
- roll pump shaft until dial reads 0.80mm above that zero mark
- tighten 3 13mm bolts, use 19mm to hold IP shaft
- roll engine forward 2 complete revolutions. Never roll engine backwards with dial in pump, unless setting zero mark
- with the crank back at TDC, check to make sure dial still reads 0.80mm
