Title: Final word on lowered injector pressures on a td..
Post by: bbob203 on November 22, 2012, 08:14:17 am
I've read different places here and on the hillbilly forum that na spec injector pressure might be better on a td than the factory higher pressure of td injectors. Reason I ask is I bought an 86 na golf with rebuilt injectors and rebuilt pump on a locked up motor. My injectors could stand to be spruced up so I was thinking of swapping these out.

only once have i ran real TD injectors..

i personally, liked the feel of the n/a injectors..

took out a set of rather fresh TD infectors, and installed a 15k mile set of n/a injectors..

the performance gains people feel might be because the 130bar injector opens sooner than the 155bar injector (advanced timing basically)

have you tried to free the engine up?

I havent been able to touch the car yet. Its five hours away I put a deposit on it site unseen just because the dude said it had rebuilt injectors and pump it was worth it for what im paying(and i didnt want it to get crushed with a bunch of useable stuff on it) also has some pretty new tirs on it and new brakes. He said he was driving it and it shut off and he tried turning it with a socket and it wouldnt move.

sounds like with a good head, and a new timing belt it would be back on the road again..

unless it bent a rod when it squished the valves  :-\

Skipped a tooth or two and that might be easy to correct and hope no valves are ruined in the process.

im gonna explore this idea. Only thing is he was driving so i think there is probably some internal damage done.

if he was driving when it locked, and it is STILL locked, then its prolly got internal damage..

hope that you can separate the engine and trans, and find a bunch of broken flywheel bolts :P
