Post by: SR Heer on November 08, 2012, 02:47:44 pm
I have an 89 Jetta that key does not turn ign tumbler to unloock column - I thought I had read on here where to drill ignition cylinder look to be able to push or get locking pin out so as to be able to turn steering wheel - I have used the search function but come up short with words like locked steering column and or ignition - can anyone steer me straight for this?

You drill a hole to be able to push a button which releases the cylinder. The button is blow the spot where you drill (which is NOT marked on the cylinder housing).

Drill at the intersection of dimensions "a" and "b" where a = 12 mm and b = 10 mm.

I have a new housing (the part you drill) if you want, and they are available new.
