I can get them for $200 with the employee discount at one of the places I work. He just ordered 10 sets, different oversizes.
I think he's keeping 5 sets and selling the rest.
I'm not sure if the order is in yet.
 I'll ask tomorrow.

I might be interested in 2 sets if I can get one of them in a 4th over (81.00mm) for my frankenmotor, and the other as a 1st over for my 1.6td.

Tim :)

I checked with him today and they aren't in yet and he's not sure exactly when they will be getting here. He thought they'd be here by now so they should be in soon.
I also checked to see where they are coming from (because someone mentioned the ones made in Brazil are junkish) and he said Germany.
I need some 77.48 and I thought that was the largest size.
 I don't think the 1.6 TD pistons come in a 81.00mm.
I just checked with Mr. Bentley and he says 77.48 is the third oversize and doesn't mention a 4th over.
Are these 81.00mm normally for something other than the 1.6TD?

I was thinking of doing a sort of group buy. Hard to do a group buy when he doesn't even have them yet but it would be nice to have orders ready when they do come in so someone else doesn't get our pistons, leaving us to pay more/wait till the next order or both.
This post probably belongs in the for sale/wanted fora.

Count me in for a set of 1.00mm obersize (thats kinda German isnt it??)

I need a set like yesterday.

If you cant get em Ill have to figger out how to pay Pass Perf. for a set. Stupid US not importing enough Diesels.

All the cool Diesel parts I want are in Canada.   :x

So I sent this email...

1st in English..
Quote
Can you deliver the pistons to the USA? Can you get 1.00mm over size?
Im using an online translation because I am too lazy to learn another language.
I hope I am not insulting you.

Danke-
Bryan Warmuskerken

Using Babelfish it comes out like this..

Quote
 Danke-
Bryan Warmuskerken

which translated by babelfish says this...

Quote
Can you supply the pistons to the USA? Can you receive oversizing to 1.00mm? Using in an on-line translation, because I am too putrid to learn another language. I hope that I do not insult you. Thank Bryan Warmuskerken

Guess Im putrid :P Ill let ya all know.

Interesting -- those German ebay turbo pistons seem to have 2 squirter cutouts each, why would that be  :?:

Kudagra:  Let us know what you find out about shipping to N. America from this supplier.

Fatmobile:  If you can arrange a group buy from your supplier I might be interested, I'm looking for .5mm (2nd) overs.

JX is the T3 engine, or 1.6TD vanagon to you lot.
Maybe to do with the 50 degree angle the engine is mounted at?

So about $190 USD for turbo kolbens from der vaterland -- sounds good!
But will they ship over here, and if so, for how much?

I checked with him again today and they aren't in yet.
As soon as they get in, I'll order mine, take a picture of them and post it in the for sale/wanted fora. i'll link to it from here.
Have $208 ready to send and I'll put them in a USPS $8.10 flat rate box as soon as I get the money.
The tricky part on a group buy is; I don't know when he will get them in and I'm not sure how long he will hold a bunch of them for us.
Hard for someone to say for sure they want a set if they don't know when they are coming in and it's hard for me to let him know how many we want if we don't arrange it ahead of time.
...sooo if we knew for sure they would be here within the next 2 weeks,
How many people would want a set and what size would you want?

I won't hold you to it, you can back out before they get here, I just need a general number to tell him before I ask if he can hold them for awhile.
I think we can put this together in a week from the time he gets them. You should be able to send me some money or let me know it's on the way and I should be able to have them in my hands, ready to ship before the week is up.
For the slow folks, we can try the same thing the next week, if there are enough left.
I suppose interested parties should email me at [email protected] so we can get the ball rolling as soon as they get here. I prefer postal money orders but my sister has paypal so we can go that route.

The only thing that bothers me about being in the middle on this one is not knowing when they are coming in.
I hope they come in soon or you are not in a hurry.
Anyone interested should send an email to vwfatmobile at yahoo.

Title: Oversizes
Post by: dieseltim on March 07, 2006, 06:05:31 am
Sorry for the delay Fatmobile, I have been pulling 12s at work for the last few weeks. So, to anwser the 81.00 mm ? yes they are going in a PG block that I am piecing together to build my Frankenengine. If I could find ( I am not even sure if it is made), 4th over tdi pistons I think I can pull this off.  On a different note I am still interested in 1st over for a 1.6td.   Thanks, Dieseltim :)

I wondered why Andrew sent that email, ha.
It's true I need to hold onto enough money to cover the COD to my place. This is money I could be using to buy a project car I'm looking at ... and some LEDs for my light toys.
The pistons are in the country and should be in his shop Monday, though I don't have a list of what oversizes he ordered. I'm hoping he didn't order any standard size sets.
I didn't want to be holding onto everyones money, not knowing when they are getting here. It is a little uncomfortable being in the middle of this group buy but it should all work itself out next week and everything will be back to normal.
Since this is so close to done, if any of you involved with this group buy want to send a postal money order now, that would be great. I'll send you a picture of them when they get here and if for some reason you don't want them, I'll send your money back. If you want to wait until they are in and you have a picture of them that's cool too.
I was thinking I'd ship them in a USPS $8.10 straight rate box so the shipping would be set ... I forgot about having to pay for a tracking number when using USPS so the shipping will be closer to $10. Making the total $210 a set.
It's hard to sell something that isn't in my hand but I needed some TD pistons and this seemed like a good deal so I thought I'd let you in on it. I will be happy when this deal is done though.
Good deals usually cost in other ways. Getting your car fixed cheap usually means you have to wait a little longer to get it done.
All the available sets have been spoken for. Thanks to everyone for being patient.

wow...march 24th

this is taking a bit longer then I thought.

If Pass Perf ever gets back to my PM I might be needing that money back.

It dosent matter if the pistons are a good deal at 3 dollars...if you cant get them. Id say its good you never paid your supplier, Craig, since it sounds like you got scammed.

Yeah, this has taken too long. I started to wonder about it when he said they were in country, then said they weren't.
I offered to send your money back a couple times and still let you in on the deal if it comes through. Any time you want it back, let me know.

Yea Craig (dont know where I got Greg from   )I know you are just in the middle. I just keep hoping that they will come through. Now my work is complaining about the Jetta. So yea if ya could send that back that would be great. And if the guy does come through then I know there are people here who will take the 1.00mm oversize set.

Dave- What Im lookin for is a set of 1.00 oversize pistons, 1.9 2 groove head gasket and what it would cost total to ship (ground/slow) to Kansas City MO 64015?

Thanks anyway Craig and no hard feelings on this end.
Title: TD pistons
Post by: fatmobile on June 13, 2006, 12:36:36 am
Yeah, no hard feelings on this end either.
Would have been nice if this would have worked out smoothly for us.
I'm ordering some parts from him this week so I'll find out if he knows any more. I still have hope for this deal... probably because I've got so many projects going that I don't have time to work on rebuilding the TD right now and can wait a little longer for them.
If they aren't in and ready to ship, I'll get to the bank soon and get that money coming back your way.
Title: TD pistons
Post by: Kudagra on June 13, 2006, 06:07:49 am
OK that sounds good. Id love to get em from ya.

Ya know what...just keep waiting on that. I finally found a place and ordered some cheap brazil pistons just to get one of these engines going. I just want this one to run...the next one Ill Fraankin-Steen ( Young Frankinstien reference) out.

Im going to ghetto rebuild this 1st one...so I ll still need another set.
