1991 jetta 1.6l td.
i built a new engine. has hydraulic lifters. i had a rebuilt K24 in it.
since i dont rev it high, its not building hardly any boost.
Giles recommended a K14.
i put that in. now the intake rubber section has a smaller connection than the K24.
so i attached the smaller inlet pc. but it only has one 1" (approx) fitting for the vent on top of the valve cover.
but
i have a blow off valve on the intake manifold to connect.
im guessing that the eco diesel with K14 did not have a blow off valve.
i have the manifold from that car i could put on. but found out after i had the new turbo installed and everything else.
over the winter id be happy to swap out the manifold, but right now just want to get it running.
any suggestions?
either cap it or remove it and install a plate to close up the hole?
i cut the steel line on the turbo and fitted silicone tubing to install a boost increase valve.
i plan on running 15psi.
head gasket is metal - AAZ head gasket.

I am using a k14 on my vanagon 1.9 and I just had Giles do his magic on my pump as well. He said my k14 + his modded pump should provide around 120p HP at 15 psi.
There is no blow-off valve on my setup as there should be a waste-gate on the k14 which will tee into your boost hose. You will need to make a DIY boost controller which you should find info on after doing a quick search on this site. Otherwise the k14 will only do about 10-12 psi.
Keep in mind, I'm no expert here - just telling you what I have. I believe you can either change out your manifold or block off the manifold port.

BTW, I'm still rebuilding my engine so no idea as to how it's all going to work out. I was running 15psi on my turbo before though and it's still in good shape. I highly recommend an EGT sensor for any non-stock diesel.

I have been working on cleaning up and potentially tuning an old Audi 2.0TD and was baffled as to why a Throttle-plate-less Diesel would need a device like a blow off valve? I hope to get rid of it altogether as I don't see a purpose.

A year or so ago I had g pop rebuild the k24
I have a little over 2k on it
I also bought a turbo boost adjustment valve
He told me to put it in line in the steel line on the turbo
I plan to use that
So
I either have to replace the intake with the one with no blow off hole
Or make a plate to cover the hole
Is there anything else I can do to drive temporarily
Even at a reduced performance but safe for the engine?

Remove the blow-off stuff, block off that hole and go.
You are correct, the boost controller goes in that steel line. I cut mine with a tiny tubing cutter, used a few hose clamps, and some short hoses between and all was good.
I think you'll like the k14 for your engine - spools pretty quick - besides, Giles recommended it so you can't go wrong.
Like you said, when you get time you can change out the manifold.

You can remove the adjuster from the BOV, drop in a spacer (m6 bolt) and tighten the adjuster down on it tight to stop the BOV from ever opening.

Or you can stuff a wine cork or a broom handle in the hose coming off the BOV and put a hose clamp around it... Easy to do with random things you have around the house. Lasted 4 years now on Jezzie with no problems whatsoever.

i stuffewd the wine cork in the bottom of the valve, so pressure would push it farther in the valve, rather than blowing it back out..
