Seeing as the TDI people keep forgetting about us, why not have an IDI GTG? Nothing super fancy. How's about August 28th. Hm... Maybe I could convince Giles to come in to work that day, and we could meet at his shop. Get a bit of a Q&A session, barbeque and a cruise... something like that?
Ok, I'm going to try the poll feature.
Any ideas?
TDIs would be welcome of course, but it'd be great to see more old rattleboxes than fancy-pantses for once!
-
I'm moving the following tuesday so I'll have to clear this date with the warden...
-
Yeah, so I don't have an IDI so take my attendence FWIW (i.e. nothing...) :D
But I have weddings to attend to on the 7th and 28th in London; I should be in T.O. on the 14th and 21st though...
Would be great to meet up. August leaves not a lot of time for planning for some; September is pretty much clear after the holiday weekend, though :) Maybe we can make it coincident with an Auto-X...
-
Giles is good for that day, but cannot host the meeting in the shop. He suggested a nice park area not too far away for the meet. Highway 7 and Markham road. (hwy 48 )
Any suggestions?
-
I should be good for when ever
-
An FYI, another GTG is shaping up in the London area. Not sure yet if Gerry (DIESEL DAZZLER) can host, but date is tentatively on Aug. 21st.:

Dr.D: Get your ass in Montreal on a Tuesday night :)
Lots of TDI/IDI :)
-
I wonder if I should I post this on whoretex...
Don't do it man!
Any chance we could do this sooner. Last 2 weeks of august are gonna really suck for me.
Blades, where do you guys meet in Montreal? I travel there occasionally for work. I usually stay in the Anjou/St. Leonard area.
-
We meet every Tuesday evening at the huge orange sphere (Julep) neat the corner of Decarie and Metropolitain
(40 and 15)
About 15-20 minutes from Anjou.
t's late. I'll get mapquest up tomorrow.

Dr.D: Get your ass in Montreal on a Tuesday night :)
There's plenty of ass around here, without such a long drive. Though, I hear Montreal ass is particularly nice.
-
Funny - all the cross roads you mention - I have run over in the last few months! Both Montreal and Markham!?
While my sweetie and I would enjoy a trip - seven days a week for me means really short - really fast trips.
Though I would like to drop off a pump!
Cheers - later - C
-
i'm on solid nightshift until the last two weeks of aug. We can do another one in september too!
-
i'm in..could use a day off! no whoretex
-
I'm down.
-
crap i voted for the vulture crotch one :|
-
the truth hurts, donnit? ew!!
-
so there are like... 4 people coming to this? :?
-
Well it will be fun anyways and if only 4-5 people come that are interested that would be a pretty good turn out .Don't forget that alot of us live only an hour or two from the meet. There isn't many other places in North America where there is as many individuals interested in the IDI's as in Ontario,Canada at least I think anyways.
-
Ok. Superior Fuel Injection is providing the food. (hotdogs, burgers) Bring anything else you feel like.
We're having the meet at Milne Dam Conservation Park. It's on McCowan Road, between HWY 7 and HWY 407 on the East side. For those unfamiliar with the area, get yourself on the 401. McCowan is East of Yonge st. between Brimley and Markham road. Exit McCowan and head North. Pass Sheppard, Finch, Steeles, 14th Ave, cross over top of the 407 and start looking on the right for the sign.
Alternately, exit McCowan road from the 407 and head North, with the park being on the right side almost immediately.
I'll be there at around 12:30.
Giles is bringing some interesting stuff to look at and also giving good prices on Stanadyne fuel treatments.
See you there!
Hopefully I'll have my car back together by then 8)
-
i'll try to make it <crosses fingers>
-
Be there or be [ ]
-
Seeya tomorrow!
-
I will be there
-
Not me :(
But my sister is in Toronto. Spot a black Cavalier, Qc licenses, front end is rusted out (jobber parts suck big time) and the rear part is clean.
-
we'll do another in october. Maybe include a cayuga event?
-
Regretfully, I cannot attend. I'm moving on Tuesday and there is still lots to do. October should be better...
-
We'll get you next time, Bruce, and in a more middle location. Good luck with yer move!
-
Middle location meaning Kitchener/Cambridge area would be great...
I'll need the luck, we got pushed up a bit on the move. People that bought our place are impatient and the people we bought from won't be out until noon. We'll likely have about 10 hours to vacate, super nice. It's amazing how much crap you accumulate in 7 years...
-
Well, seems we were lucky, the weather spat a few raindrops at us, but held. It was actually sunny later in the afternoon. Many Thanks to Giles for sponsoring the food and the rides in his zippy N/A rabbit. That pump makes a huge difference! (nice 2nd gear burnout, you maniac!)
Nice seeing familiar faces, and meeting new ones. Kris had us rolling laughing more than once.
Lanny?
So we'll do another one in early october.
Thanks again!
-
It was nice to finally meet some people from here. Thanks to Giles for the food and the ride in the rabbit :D .
Bryson, my car ran fine. I didn't really notice it to be faster than before. But I did make a mistake by saying the car stuggles past 125-130 km/k. I took the car up to about 135-140 mk/h on the way home but it took some time. I think I can get up 160-170km/h but that would take a really long time.
Thanks
Peter

sorry, couldn't make it. still battling this damn house and we're far behind schedule!

I'd be good for that, provided it was on a weeknight.

sorry, couldn't make it. still battling this damn house and we're far behind schedule!
See, you should have come out to the last 2 GTGs... you'd still be behind on the house, but on the bright side, you would have had two dang good Saturdays :D
-
haha! little did i know i'd be sitting here on the first day of classes and i still have an entire kitchen to ceramic tile before the house is even livable! ask the dr. he saw what shape that place was in... its an epic struggle.
i hope we can pull something together for an Oct GTG. i'd like to say lets all congregate at my new place, but chances are, it still won't be done... and the deck/BBQ is a ways off. still, depending on how many people we get out, we could probably all fit our cars in the backyard if there is no other location available. just putting the offer on the table boys!
alright, i'm off to buy my books. cheers. 8)
-
So make it a deck building gtg
-
haha works for me.
welcome to the forum...are you planning on coming out? where abouts in SW ontario are you?
-
welcome to the forum...are you planning on coming out? where abouts in SW ontario are you?
You two have met before (or at least were at the same place at the same time) at Gerry's GTG in Dorchester.
-
Dave, did you get my PM about the sdi manifold?
-
You two have met before (or at least were at the same place at the same time) at Gerry's GTG in Dorchester.
oh ok, what car does he drive?
is anyone going to take the lead on this october IDI GTG? do we have any idea of a date or place yet? like i said, all diesel dubbers are welcome to congregate at my place (downtown kitchener) but it's nothing like Gerry's pad! ...maybe could be a last resort if we don't find a better spot?
hoping giles can make it out to this one again...
there are 5 weekends in october.... should we start narrowing down?
-
Dave, did you get my PM about the sdi manifold?
PM? No... sorry, haven't perused the forum much. Will read it and touch base with you.
-
Yes I was at Gerry's, try to get to every TDI gtg I can. I've got a black 97 Jetta TDI. Parked at the end of the row so no one had to look at my filthy car
I'm in Sparta, work in ST Thomas.
We just got my dad a 98 Jetta TDI but it's the least maintained car I've ever seen, getting a rebuild @ 300k km due to previous owner ignorance  Hopefully get him to come along once in a while also after reanimation.
Just joined this forum but will come out for this if at all possible! 8)
-
oh yeah, i remember you, or at least your car! there were a lot of new faces at gerry's that day...
looking forward to meeting up with all of you diesel crazies again, hoping we can organize something for october!
-
New to this Board....Got myself an 1984 TD Rabbit....working AC, sunroof...quite a blast....anyway if there is a GTG, I know a buddy who has a fleet of VW diesels and would attend, but only if he is allowed to talk diesel......and more diesel talk and so on, and so on.....Kevin......
-
welcome! sounds good to me, maybe we should have the GTG at your buddy's place then
-
he's only allowed to come if he talks diesel. hehe
DATES!!
What dates are good for people? I'm clear oct 9th and 10th.
-
I could likely tear myself away from my home improvement projects for either of those days. We decided on a location yet? Likely gonna be cold, some inside space would be good...
