Title: Mk2 to mk1 diesel swap
Post by: srgtlord on October 05, 2012, 12:45:09 pm: So I am confronted with only a few options to get get behind a diesel again. One idea is to swap my diesel engine from my rusted out mk2 into the mk1 cabriolet I have. As it sits it has an auto tranny, power steering, working airconditioning, yada yada yada. The MK2 had manual steering and no airconditioning and obviously a 5 speed. Now the question is... What would I have to aquire/ do to make the diesel engine fit besides engine mounts? I would like to keep the power steering and A/C if possible in the cabriolet.

Clutch pedal i think is also mk1 specific, but I am not certain.

you can pull a mk2 engine, change 1 (or 2) engine mounts depending on year, and bolt it right in a mk3..

mk2 and mk3 are WAY closer than mk2 and mk1..
