Title: Accelerator question
Post by: ein bora on September 27, 2012, 06:24:25 am
Would anybody know if there ever was a b5 passat made that had a cable driven accelerator peddle – I’m thinking maybe a European model? I’m doing a gas to a 1.9 idi diesel conversion and the accelerator on my 2000 passat is electronically controlled. I’m in the process of trying to fabricate something but finding one that works would be much easier.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I was just texting a dude on here tonight about somethin similar

I remember this was years ago so its fuzzy
someone used to make a" kit" for gassers to put a throttle cable back on....
it was for either mk3s or 4s,i cant remember, and i thought it used a throttle position sensor now
,or somethin.......they said" better throttle response" ...well yea drive by wire is lazy...
i cant remember who tho,but it was an ad in european car,i think.
i know therres alotta i thinks in there but isnt your b5 got some mk4 odds and ends?

a pre ob2 pedal from a b3 has the same bushing and eyelet for the hook style idi accelerator cable. passats also have the interior cruise diaphragm mounted to the pedal. great way to help clean up the engine bay. if you give me your email i can send you a pic of what im talking about with the pedal...

I believe 034motorsport makes some kits for eliminating fly-by-wire for some late model vag cars?
