Title: I need a 210mm flywheel WITH TDC mark!
Post by: erice1984 on September 24, 2012, 01:12:30 am
Anyone know where one could be?

I have one from a digifant gasser and no TDC.  I have timed this engine ~10-15 times and only had 1 time I considered acceptable.  Bottom line is, this is wasting my time and would like to get a hold of a 210mm flywheel with a factory TDC mark.

Thanks
-Eric

EDIT: This MUST fit a 020 transmission.

AAZ from canada

AAZ from CA had a 210mm setup?  I thought it was 228mm..

Ah ha! I see it now, the Passat with AAZ had 228mm the Jetta with AAZ had 210mm

027105271nx - Sachs P/N: W0133-1599035 At www.autohausaz.com I can see the TDC mark in the picture, nearest the bolt hole.

VERIFIED the above part number does have the TDC mark on it.

027105271p shows up as fitting cabrio etc...  (gas engines, I assume this does not have TDC mark.)

Thanks for the lead theman53

why not??? timming belt... gotta know tdc on them too....

what i find is someone screws up and forces it on when doing clutch job... aka ignored dowles and got it in the other 2/3 ways it can bolt on incorrectly.. but all vw that it fits has tdc for timming belt...

Don't worry about it.  I ordered a new one from autohausaz.  I appreciate the offer though.

the mk2 gassers with CIS had a TDC mark, and usually degree marks as well..

i use early mk2 CIS flywheels.. a STOCK gasser flywheel is like a lightened flywheel on a diesel.

Lucas, if you have an 020 flywheel off an AAZ, would you snap some pics for me, or simply weigh it?

12.8lbs
I am 99% sure on that, I looked for the flywheels but I am loosing stuff until the shed is done. I couldn't find it, but I remember weighing mine and I pretty sure it weighed 12.8lbs. If it wasn't 12.8lbs it is 12.6 for sure one of the 2 is correct.

My 210mm 020 Gas flywheel was easily twice as light as the 228mm 02A TDI flywheel I took off the engine lol. SUPER UPGRADE !

ok, cause the 16v flywheel i just installed on my diesel, was ~13#s

02A flywheels ARE easily TWICE as much..

Can you do me a favor and when you get this measure it. I and a friend of mine want to know what the actual face to face measurement is on an unmolested flywheel. That way we could know if there is a problem when resurfacing. Thanks Lucas><>

This flywheel, I forgot to check which trans version it is for.  It is not going to work in a 020.  Damnit.

EDIT: The flywheel is in fact meant for 020, just a later version, the 16v.  Not sure if it will work under the 8v transmission I have.

What other VW trans uses a 210mm clutch?

Well, I think the problem may lie in the fact that I have a 2 pin clutch/flywheel and this flywheel has a single pin (being later version)  The flywheel is about 3/4" thicker as well.  I assumed I couldn't use it, also my transmission is an ASF (8v) 24t shaft.

Let me know if there is some magical combination of clutch/pressure plate and this flywheel combo that will work and I might pursue it.  Otherwise I am going to return it sometime.

I would still love the measurement :D

Everything I have read is the 2 pin is pre MKIII, the single pin is MKIII. That is what I have seen. Some have said different countries of origin of casting, but IIRC I have one of each and both say Germany.

Got a 210mm, two pin flywheel from a gas engine here at the computer with me.  Laying it over a turbo diesel flywheel that is handy there is the dimple like CRSMP5 said, right next to the bolt hole, that lines up with the TDC mark on the 200mm TD flywheel, and a second machined notch a few degrees counterclockwise for the gas TDC.

The part number for the 210mm is 027 105 273; hope that helps

2 pin is german mk3, and everything prior to that..

single pin is mexican 2.0

its not the country of origin for the part, its the country of origin for the car..

Still need that measurement even if you are returning it.
