Title: Adding A/C compatibility with gasser parts

Hi I have a 91 jetta 1.6NA wolfsburg ed 260k miles
Live in balls hot part of Arizona
I want to add a/c my jetta didn't come with it
I found a 90 jetta gasser with a/c at the junk yard
will the parts swap over
ie blower/evap
condenser
alternator and bracket
and control switches
I plan to use a new compressor
Any help thanks

I'm not too sure on the mkII stuff but I think the only problem will be the alternator bracketry, the adjuster and connection is different due to the IP bracket at least on the mkI.

There is a vacuum tap on the break vac line you need. Goes to controls. On the vac pump side of the check valve.

The AC cars have vac actuators to control the air flow in the car.

Plus the wiring, the compressor clutch control signal runs thru high and low pressure switches.  There might be a temp switch on the evaporator.

The rad fan needs to run on low speed when the clutch is engaged.

Use new orings on the hoses and add AC lube and charge with R12 replacement hydrocarbon refrigerant. I use redtek R12a 2 cans.

There is a vortex post for a serpentine belt change to a/c cars that makes the alternator and all the rest much easier to deal with, in my opinion, or finding a aaz diesel bracket for alt, a/c pump & ps.(will all fit a 1.6td with very little mods)  I have it on a MK2 and it was much easier & better doing this than using the idler and v-belts on what I think is poor setup of v-belts on the MK2 with a/c.

gasser parts and brackets will be the wrong offset for the diesel engine.. the belts will NEVER line up without custom pulleys..

the diesel brackets are specific to the diesel..

if you try and use gasser parts, the alternator will be where the pump is..

the a/c setup on a diesel is 100% different than a gasser..

and yes, the v-belts are junk.. but if you go to serpentine, then you also need to add a TDI crank sprocket, and get the crank broached..
