Sometimes there are rebuild kits on Ebay.

The seller is dieselcare I think.

apparently you have to pay to use technical data on dieselcare, so is there anyone else who did rebuild his pump and maybe can advice me, or a link where I can find info like drawing of the pump?
thanks a lot...

Thanks for that really nice link. This was about a pump for a 205, is there a lot of difference with a pump for a golf AAZ engine, and did you find a place to buy Bosh kits?

The only real difference between the 205 pump and the AAZ pump is the added electronics for engine management.  The lower part of the pump is virtually identical.  The top half has all of the mechanical linkages removed and are replaced by solenoids and actuation motors.  The AAZ is what you call a "drive by wire" engine.  That is, instead of your throttle inputs being transmitted to the pump via mechanical linkage, they are transmitted to the ECM via a potentiometer mounted on the accelerator pedal.  The ECM reads different values (ie: o2 content of exhaust, engine temp and speed, ambient air temp, boost pressure, airflow, ect.) and decides how much "throttle"  to send to the injection pump.

The AAZ is not fly by wire, the first VW fly by wire diesel was the 1Z Tdi. The AAZ is a turbo diesel, but indirect injection, nt DI.

If were talking about the Peutgoet 205, i'm pretty sure i've only seen them fitted with an old Lucas CAV rotary pump. The younger 306 had both the Lucas CAV and later, the Bosch VE.

The AAZ is indeed mechanical, indirect,no electronics. In Europe they were last mounted in Golfs in 1996. I bought one of the last ones.. Then came the 1Z tdi,90hp,still mounted in mk 3's.
So anyway,I still wonder:where do you buy the kits, and has someone more specific info about the bosch ve pump mounted on the aaz.It must have some differences with the 205 pump..As I'm not a professional I'm a bit afraid of screwing it up, but paying a new one is too expensive for me..
