Title: Where to obtain 85 TD radiator fan ceramic resistor?

Wantng to obtain one of the ceramic-style (about 2.5 inches long or so) radiator fan (low speed) resistors for an '85 Jetta TD mobile. This is found on the radiator shroud and clips between the steel holders.

Anyone with used one? Where to buy new if needed. What can I use as a substitute from the general population?

I used to have stuff like this and threw much of it away when I left the farm.....sheet.

might use one from a Jeep Cherokee..

i know they use one as well, and its still available..

update to 86 style 2 speed stuff/wiring... no resistor.. they use relays..

the TDs/ECOdiesel had 3 spd fans..

they are way different..

gas, and n/a are all different..

Some days I consider shoehorning a little Briggs and Stratton in some Schwinn frame and calling it good....................

86+ gas & n/a use ONE relay..

the low speed side of the fan is run DIRECTLY thru the fan switch..

only the HIGH SPEED side of things are on a relay..

HAH! I am doing this right now! A Tecumseth though, and not a Schwinn.. lol

If you get it running, buy yourself a little grey suit with a red bow tie, with white socks and ride around on it (a la Peewee Herman)! Just don't go into the adult theatres.

I'm afraid about %90 of the users on this site are too young to get this reference and at least %5 are too old, but I gotcha, and now have "tequila!" stuck in my head thanks.
