Title: 1.6TD injector pump plumbing
Post by: gitkrunk on July 31, 2012, 01:42:21 pm
hey guys i have a 1.6td injector pump... last part of the VW stamp says 081F which i am told is a turbo diesel pump.

I am working on putting the 1.6 in my suzuki samurai.. so i can't reference where all the lines went and came from... anyone have a pic that could explain this to me?

There is only two ;)

The one nearest the pulley that accepts the 17mm headed banjo bolt is the IN bolt, the one farthest from the pulley that is on its side with the same 17mm banjo bolt hole is the OUT. The small lines from the injectors meet up at this spot as well.

You need 12 DC volts at the fuel solenoid when you want the engine to run. But that's about it. In from the filter, out back to the tank (should return to below the level of fuel in the tank) and that's about it. Gotta love the simplicity of old diesels.

First picture- Fuel in from filter

Second picture, top to bottom- small rubber boost line from turbo or intake manifold barb (depending on turbo and intake setup), little black rubber boot gets left as it is, and the bottom circle is the fuel OUT as Tyler said make sure the bolt is stamped out and looks like this one;

I didn't realize it was a turbo pump (though you did say so). The top nipple on the "spaceship" goes to the intake manifold, to give the pump manifold pressure which increases the fuel under boost. The nipple under it is vent to atmosphere.
