I seem to have misplaced my connecting rod nuts. Putting everything back together and I can't figure out exactly what I need or where to get them. The dealership seems clueless as to what type of nuts are used. They only sell the complete connecting rod. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ;D

Have a look on vagcat.com you'll have to join.

pretty sure they are m8-1.0 thread. But not 100%
-
Nope, the 8 x 1 were too small :-[
-
Then m10-1.25.
I am almost sure they used those fine pitch not the regular metric pitches.
-
will check it out tomorrow. Will grade 5 nuts be strong enough though??????
-
No grade 5 in metric. You want 10.9 or 12.9
-
i'm guessing the general grade at the hardware store won't be tough enough??
-
according to my ETKA they are M9x1 and are part number 068 105 427. I doubt any hardware store i could think of would have those. They are also supposed to be shouldered if your trying to match originals.
-
all the rods I have are at the machine shop. I have spares as I am doing the ARP again. I don't know where my stock ones are. I didn't think Vw used the 9mm, just the audi TD??? I will know as soon as I find mine.
-
Sucks if it is an off size. Is there any option other than buying ARP bolts and nuts for it?
-
I might have some in my spare parts bin.
-
Yes I have 8. You do know that ideally, the bolts should be replaced? If you still need the nuts, let me know. I will give them to you for $5 plus shipping. Might still be cheaper to go to the dealer.
