The thing on the throttle bracket a small pivot ball similar to that on the transmission linkage but smaller.

How about substituting a grease fitting?  Just needs to have the ability to snap the throttle cable clip on it.

hmm it could work. I'm not using it for its intended purpose though. I'm putting it on a accelerator pedal to run a certain kind of cruise control setup from a passat. the length of the injection pump ball spaces out perfectly.
