Time to replace the rotting downpipe on my 98 AAZ Golf, but 2.5" performance downpipes with a K03 rectangular flange are hard to find now.
Will one of these fit without modification?

Thanks!

No. The turbo is a lot lower on a AHU/1Z

You could see how much different. The block should be identical to the aaz except for the crank position sensor. The main difference would be in the head, which from what burn says is lower. I have never laid hands on one, but if nothing else could be modded and made to fit.

its not the head, its the manifolds..
the AAZ turbo is oriented up high, like where a 1.6TD turbo is.
the TDI turbos are mounted down low, think VNT15..
basically, the later engines had the turbos down low so they didnt have to clear soo much stuff..
i LOVE how hard (easy) it is to build downpipes for VNTs... so far, ive had to do nothing more than a single 90* bend..
