I figured this might be a common but quiet topic. My dip stick tube weeps oil where it meets the block. I know that the tube gets pressed into it so i hammered it some more but it still leaks quite a bit. Enough for me to smell in the car, drop off the pan and make a mess!
Does anyone have a source for new tubes and the tappered piece it fits into or any other suggestions? I figured that silicone sealer would not work but is it worth a try?

:D not all are... the dipsticks that bolt to the ip bracket have o-rings... and yes silicone helps too... only if you piull it.. and add it to the o-ring..

Mine bolts to the IP! Ill pull it out and see if there is even a ring in there.

I put a SAE washer or a metric washer on mine that bolts to the IP. I put the washer on, then the O ring, to help smash it down and in 40,000 miles I didn't have one drop come up from there.

Thanks for the tip!

Gray "high-torque" silicone fixed mine. JB Weld did not, just FYI. Mine was the o-ring type, with a new one, go figure.
