Title: for sale k24/k26
Post by: andy2 on June 10, 2012, 01:35:56 pm
I have a k24/k26 that I wouldn't mind parting with.I built it about 4 yrs ago and intended to use it but never did. There is a couple pics of it in the links below.

It isn't rebuilt just reconditioned. It has ceramic coated turbine housing that was bored out to accept the k26 turbine wheel. The k26 compressor section is mounted to the k24 center housing. The wastegate is stock and in good working order.I made a spacer out of an old exh manifold to clearance the k26 compressor housing from the intake manifold. The turbine outlet flange holes were drilled and tapped for 10mm as we were planing on hanging another turbo form it.The 8 capscrews and spacer are included with this as well.

This turbo is obviously not a bolt on and would require a modified oil drain pipe hose due to the exh spacer. The compressor inlet and outlet are also different sizes that the k24.

looking $200 + shipping

is this a K26 center section inside K24 housings?

or is it a K26 cold side on a K24 turbo?

This is k26 wheels with a k24 turbine housing bored out to accept the bigger k26 turbine wheel. It has a k24 center section not the k26 water cooled one.

Hi Andy,

Should I take your lack of response as a "not interested"? No hard feelings, just wanting to know if I should bid for one on ebay.

Yes,I will hopefully be shipping it out to him today.

I'm pretty sure that the compressor inlet OD is smaller for some reason.

Compressor inlet is SMALLER on the 26. the compressor wheel is MUCH larger, but the inlet is SMALLER for some reason..

TECH DATA FOR THE FORUM/USELESS DIESEL GEEK KNOWLEDGE:

The k14 wastegate plunger is about .5'' shorter then the k24 wastegate plunger. Although they look almost identical if you use the k14 plunger in a k24 housing you will never see full boost. On the other end if you use a k24 wastegate in a k14 housing you will ALWAYS see FULL boost (it will not have room to retract far enough)

I have spare parts laying around to compare so I fig I would contribute some to the forum since so far I have only taken from it!

Turbo looks great! glass beading the compressor/wastegate and rebuilding today!

All done, I'll give you an update on performance, need to fabricate oil return, anyone know the size/pitch of the banjo in the block? I am guessing 18x.1.5? I still need to pull mine to measure.
