Title: WTB: Lower shift boot on a 83 jetta

Im in need of a good lower shift boot on a 83 jetta i know the earlier ones were different than the 83. Does anyone know where i can get one online or does anyone have one they want to sell me?

are they different for sure?  kind of looks like the one on my 82 same rip and all :)  has that dish plug underneath.  im in the same boat trying to replace.  i have only heard of a couple of these mk1 in junkyards in the couple years i have been into vw's :(

Same part for the '79 rabbit and '83 jetta.  171711195c  Germanautoparts sells them for $55.

My pickup hasn't had one for at least 15 years.  Does it really serve any useful purpose?

keeping all the CRAP out of the back half of your shifter..

im sure your shifter would feel LIKE NEW if you still had the under-car boot..
