Title: will an N/a exhaust clip onto a TD downpipe?
Post by: bbob203 on April 04, 2012, 07:00:12 pm
in the middle of pulling and engine out of my eco/td to put into my na(vice versa) and am wondering if the exhaust toilet bowls will match up the opposing cars reason being i don't want a cat restricting my flow on my td.

I attached a KKK 24 and downpipe from '85 Jetta td into my '85 Golf and it fit. But, the turbo toilet is closer to the firewall about 2 inches and necessitated pushing the tailpipe toward the rear of the car or releasing the rusted slip clamp on the exhaust and shortening the mid-section of the pipe.

Maybe it was the other way around...can't remember tonight. Anyway, it was a matter of fore or aft.
You ever going to stop asking questions and just get this job done, bob???

When I put my k24 on at christmas I kept the original toilet bowl and used the same clips to attach it.  I had to shove it back about an inch or more, and it kept rattling.  So I took the front piece back out and cut about an inch off it and it worked fine until I put the big down pipe on.  I still have the piece if you need it - some welding required.
