Title: Have giles up my eco pump or replace with a td pump?
Post by: bbob203 on March 24, 2012, 01:28:19 pm
This is my dilemma  ???
What would be more beneficial to my fuel economy running my eco pump with a performance rebuild or throwing a td pump in?

The only point in having Giles sort your eco pump would be to convert it to a true td pump.

For most fuel economy - would have to think the 8mm ECO without Fuel Enrichment LDA would have the higher potential.

All the other 1.6 pumps are 9mm.

But what we find out is our right foot determines most things.

A 9mm with LDA would give your right foot more alternatives.

I think personally the more power you have the better economy in the diesels you will get. To a point...you don't want to be smoking black at idle, but you can use less pedal to get the same results as if you have less power and are flogging it to get up a hill.
I would vote TD pump.

I say TD pump too.  I think you would get MUCH better results power-wise while still retaining good fuel economy if you chose the unit that more accurately modifies your fuel injection quantity for your given boost.  Keep off the smoke pedal and you should still see Eco-style mileage figures.
