Post by: R.O.R-2.0 on March 19, 2012, 03:01:33 pm
so, its come time to part ways with my 84 rabbit shell..

its a diesel shell, and its all there, it just needs an engine.

if its a deal breaker, ill even throw in the original 4A trans also.

it has alloy wheels on it currently (not the Enkeis), but will probably have stock rabbit steelies when i get rid of it..

anyways, you guys know the car..

Looks like a great deal on a roller.  Too bad it's 1500 miles away.

PM Toby and make him an offer he can't refuse.  I know he was looking for a 2 Door Cabby or so but try him anyway.  Make two members happy at the same time.

what the hell, i don't see deals like this in the bay area, seems cars like this get a premium here right now.

is the title on it current?

if i can take this roller with signed title to the dmv and register it with no issues i would be very interested but would have to use uship.  do you have to move the car right away or just want the money?

if you haven't sold it by the time you read this, could you pm me with an address and i could setup a uship bid to see what the prices are.  i was working with a guy on ebay at one time that was oregon but i don't know the area.  and i had multiple bids for $450 and some even less.  still would make it a good deal around here, i got 5 engines to work with right now :)

In my experience, if you register a diesel car from out of state they want to see that it's a diesel, which in my case has meant the lady at the DMV follows you out to the parking lot, stares at the engine for 5 minutes before deciding it's probably a diesel and goes on her merry way. If it's gas you will need to smog it. Of course, your mileage may vary and it may depend on how complete the title is from the issuing state. I've heard of people getting a "D" title, no questions asked. I still think you could transfer the title to your name but not get the registration until you're going to drive it. In my experience, it has also not been a hassle to register a car long, long after you're supposed to (10 days or whatever)... I have a title to a Chevy Luv we're building that was signed off in 1984! I'll let you know how that one goes.

Talk to Damac and work out a uship.  Sounds like he has plenty of them.
