Hey guys,
On my 1.6TD I have noticed that the new clear fuel line (from filter to IP) is pulsing.
It's more noticable at lower RPM.
Could this be a stuck pump vane ?
The pump did sit dry (without any caps) for at least 6 months, maybe even a year.
( this is a Fox TD build I purchased, that wasn't completed- so I don't know how long the IP sat dry for sure)
When I resealed the IP and did Gov Mod, I filled the IP with trans fluid, which sat this way for about 3 weeks, before I finished the swap and started the engine.
I don't have a pressure gauge setup,to measure IP internal Pressure.
I've never seen a fuel line pulse like this before.
The only thing I can think of ,is a stuck pump vane ?
Any other ideas and remidies?
Do you think it will free itself upon operation ?
Will any fuel treatments help? (if it's a stuck vane)
Or do I have to tear the IP apart?
I have never dismantled an entire pump before- Been lucky I guess-
Here is a link to the build on the vortex:

Thanks for your input !

If you filled it with trans fluid what kind are we talking here? 75W or 90W? Or do you mean Automatic Transmission fluid? If ATF for that amount of time I would expect it to be free but perhaps you may need a purge treatment instead. Otherwise a teardown and free that vane that seems to be sticking. Might actually be two of them.

it is the feed line pulsing? Is it just a super flexible line??
The injection pump does put that line under suction to pull the fuel from the tank.. it may just be a soft line.

It's alive! Talk about a Franken motor.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies !
Sorry- Yes I used ATF in IP upon reseal.
The clear fuel line is very flexible or soft
At idle it pulses 1-2 times per second
I guess the only way I will know for sure,is to measure IP internal pressure.
Does anyone have a return banjo and bolt-they want to sell ? So I can make a gauge setup.
I'm wondering if I could drain fuel filter and fill it with PB Blaster- let it run for a bit-then stut it down and let it sit for several days or a week.
Maybe this would free up a stuck vane?
I imagine the engine would run on PB Blaster- they seem to run on just about anything ! LOL
What do you think ?
Thanks,Mike

Has anyone ever tried filling the IP with penetrant,to free up frozen vanes or internals?
Has anyone had the vanes free up after driving the vehicle?
Thanks,Mike
