I still want them, my wife still wants to kill me...I can't use them if I am dead. Good luck with the sale and if she would change her mind I will let you know immediately.

Haha. I will put them in your car over night and she will never know...lol
-
She wouldn't know if I got them even if I carried them in as I have a spare set of regular seats now...just like guitars all look the same in a case, vw seats are vw seats she wouldn't know. BUT if I sent 350.00 out that is the issue.
Maybe I could make several small payments and you could sit them in the car....hmmm.....I am thinking.
-
I know its a lot of money but I would rather keep these than give them away. Someone needs to buy them and appreciate them so they don't rot in my garage.
-
Talked to her again and still no dice. I get the car running and it will be another story, if you still have them then.
-
My girlfriend buys me volkswagen parts. ;D
-
My thoughts (and feel free to use it on her) EVERYTIME you use the car, you'll be using the seats. With the miles I put on my car, (750 this week) I'm soooo glad I got a set of Recaro's.
-
She is correct in ways. The car isn't even running now, if it was running it would be different.
If you still have these come summer I will buy them, if you sell them I will keep looking, but I need the car moving first.
-
damn, looks like i am going to have to put these in my car...
-
Still got one of those TD grille badges? Will they fit on the westy MK1 grilles? And what is you're asking price on the one w/ all tabs on it?
-
pmed you!

Just an FYI... the foam bolsters are still available for these seats, so you can repair the typically collapsed driver's side bottom bolster.
I'm in the middle of rehabbing a set I got locally; I took the upholstery off and ran it through the wash, looks like brand new.
Got the new bolster on Ebay from the UK. With current exchange rate, it's about $48, and $12 shipping.

How is the shape of the foam? Does it look original? I know the bolsters are different for the power and non power. Thanks for the help!
-
As show above, that's the one I got for mine, which is the power seat.
The non-power seat I don't think is a real Recaro... the base is not detachable. I needed the real thing, since I'm transplanting these into a Vanagon; I had to ditch the power base.
The foam shape is identical to the original... which is a Recaro LS-B. You have to trim a small triangle of foam off of the forward inside edge where it wraps around the front lip of the seat base; right where that little cutout is in the pic, otherwise it's a perfect fit.

I put Recaro's in my 89. Stole them off the Vortex, and guy threw them in the car as well. He wanted $200 to deliver, but at 45 mpg, it was cheaper for me to drive there and back, even with hotel (Boston area). From what I saw on Ebay and other sites, with his redone in vinyl (compared to the rips and supports posted above that needed replacement) it's amazing what they were charging for the name "Recaro". If I didn't have them, I would love to get these seats you are selling. FWIW, while we know an 89 doesn't ride like an 09 :), I tend to think the Recaro's in the 89 are more comfortable than the VW 09 seats.
Good Luck with the sale.
Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

i got 2 sets of them.. LOL.. i stole both pair.. one was 75$(back in 98) and the other was $150 (back in 08).. i still seek set #3... IMO no other seat fits my arss as good... back in 02 i had someone selling a set of foam and material for $50 thats still sitting on my shelf for when i need them.. :D
-
Thanks for the input guys. I just spent 30 hours in them going to the gulf coast and back for spring break. Great seats and thanks for the foam link!!!

Darn, I was getting close to contacting you. I just bought the wife and Ipad. And was going to use that as leverage...
