Title: Injector pump seal kit
Post by: Luckypabst on February 06, 2006, 06:04:35 pm
Newbie here that needs a bit of direction (search didn't answer my specific question)...

For trivia's sake this is for an '82 Westy with 1.6l turbo diesel.

I'm trying to locate locally a seal kit for the injector pump. I've seen the various part numbers posted here but don't know where to actually get the kit. A call to a couple local VW dealers proved fruitless...

The pump is leaking somewhere around the body - from reading old posts here, I'm guessing it's the cold start shaft but I can't verify that. Peeking under the timing cover reveals clean, dry conditions and the pump should only have about 20K on it so I figure it's in otherwise fair shape.

In the event I can't come up with a ready made kit, does anyone know the dimensions of whatever o-rings are in there so I can have them in hand before tearing into the thing?

Thanks
Chris

Probably any local diesel injection shop can get you what your looking for.  I bought my gasket kit at Superior Diesel and Injection in Detroit ($18.80).
Here is a link to locate one in your area...
