my head lights are dull...new bulbs....i seen some where on herewhere some one had fixed up theyer wiring and made theyer lights brighter....ive tryed the search for some time but no luck, i think it was in a rebuild post where i had seen it...if any one has any suggestions please feel free to reply....oh it a 92 jetta 1.6 td...

head light relays are your friend..
pull power directly from the battery, or alternator + post..
use an individual relay for high and low beam. thats how i did it. used the fan relays out of my audi for this purpose.. it had a 2 speed fan, and a holder for 2 normal horn relays, so i wired it up to work as a headlight relay setup..
my headlights are INDEED brighter than stock, and the side of my dash no longer gets warm..

any pics? lol im not a fan of wiring...lol when i was logging and wiring had to be done i used to tell my boss i was color blind lmao....so i had to do the welding for the equipment instead... i much prefered that...

What bulbs does yours take?

Of course if your takes a different bulb then this won't work for you.
Very easy to hook up.

think it was 8v and the title was relaince of thy headlights or something similar.
I bought 3 of the relays at the local parts store. I installed one in the dims and one in the brights and put a spare in the dash just in case. Make sure to put a breaker or fuse in the main power in case of fire. The relays I got were the 2 or 3 dollar univeral ones that had power in, post to turn on the power, 2 power outs, and a ground. Take the power from the battery or similar, the power from the headlight switch to tun on the realy and the 2 powered outs go to your headlights. The ground obviously goes to a good ground source.

BAM! Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you need to know to relay your own headlights even if you had never touched a wire in your life.

relays simple... LOL...
30 is power from batt
87 goes to headlight/radio/anything your trying to turn on via relay
85 is ground...
86 is power from item/switch
now a h4 is way better then 9004 bulbs.. the 9004 has crappy connectors that like to melt when you try to run real bulbs..
the whole key to this is good grounds.. good power.. a voltage drop on either of them think 1v is good for something like 40% of light.. so you just add in relays power from batt.. grounds close to each light.. and night/day differance..
no matter what though... the light is only as good as the light your using.. a ecode has a much better light distrubution.. then any dot headlight made..

my 9004s have no issues with REAL bulbs.. i have my power and ground source directly to the battery, and there is a separate relay for high, and low beam..
i often get brighted when my lights are on low..

ive delt with quite a few melted grounds on 9004... owners tend to run higher wattage bulb.. so rel vs higher wattage should be redescribed... stay away from higher aka 100/80w 9004...

You literally have 2 connections to make (one to the battery, another to ground) and then you just plug your existing headlight connectors in to the harness, and plug the harness in to your headlights. It takes about 10 minutes to install.
Significant difference in brightness on my car, plus my headlight switch doesn't get warm anymore.

I went with this kind of harness on both my rabbit and golf and it made a huge difference. I got my harness off ebay though.......should got it from 4crawler.

its funny how a batterie temanel can seem tight and not be....i didnt notice but one of the termanel clamps ...well the bolt for it was kinda hung up on the batterie case....not making full contact...now thats all fixed and lights are bright...dam silly thing i know....and im suprized the car even started....cranked over well enough.....oh well live and learn.....check and double check..lol
