Title: FS Boge front strut inserts, rear struts for mk 1
Post by: motomike33y on December 22, 2011, 05:53:45 pm
cleaning out my basement.  have a pair of unused-in crappy looking boxes-mexican front inserts for internal thread US built rabbit, and pair of unused german back struts for g/j/r.  no springs.  missing one nut on front unless I locate it as I clean.  both bought new in the distant past for one of my 82 rabbits and just set around.  looking for $65 per pair plus shipping.  pm me  (I found the nut for the front strut insert so both complete)

more info on the fronts please...

are they actual boge or sachs??

are they gas and if so what color?

id love a set of old old turbo gas yellow boge.. or even pro gas ones.. but i know i have to find a old dusty set... as sachs ruined the line..

They are black, gas inserts, box says 'original boge'.  stamped on strut is 'BOGE', 10201270580, made in mexico, 251 01.  same serial # on box. label says US built Rabbit 79-84 exc GTI, Strut insert, Int thread. I don't remember where I got them from, but probably parts place in auburn hills.

sounds like stock non gas replacements.. :(  good for the build to sell type of car.. nothing wrong with them... but not a sport gas strut.. for spirited driving..

these still far better then sachs crap though.. just not what i seek..

all I know is what's on the box/label, but I think you are right--they were original replacement-not sport version-thanks for the interest.
didn't mean to mislead-boxes have a variety of names on-including gas-but I should have thought about it since they aren't pressurized like gas struts
