Title: compatable clutches for aaz in 93 golf
Post by: xxkoadyxx on December 19, 2011, 04:56:47 pm
I'm wondering what clutches I can use in my 1.9TD without modifications? My clutch in my car needs to be replaced as its slipping..

Thanks guys :)

Are you sure it's not just the silly auto adjusting cable messing up?

The AAZ is a 210mm flywheel IIRC - just replace it with a decent replacement AAZ clutch?

Unless you want to change the flywheel? I think I'm using a TDI fly with a HD 16V gasser 228mm plate

I got an ACT setup for my AAZ. It's sweet and it'll handle any mod I want to make to the engine.

is the 1.9 a 2 dowel flywheel?

im looking at getting this http://www.autopartsway.ca/PartList.cfm?Volkswagen/1993/Golf/Base/1.9L_L4/allB/Transmission_and_Transaxle_-_Manual/Manual_Transmission_Components/Clutch_Pressure_Plate/pagenum1/tabS (http://www.autopartsway.ca/PartList.cfm?Volkswagen/1993/Golf/Base/1.9L_L4/allB/Transmission_and_Transaxle_-_Manual/Manual_Transmission_Components/Clutch_Pressure_Plate/pagenum1/tabS)

matched with a ACT clutch.. How would that work? what else would i need? Do i need new bolts and such for the flywheel ect? also plan on doing this also sense i have it apart- http://www.autopartsway.ca/partlist.cfm?Volkswagen/1993/Golf/Base/1.9L_L4/allB/Transmission_and_Transaxle_-_Manual/Manual_Transmission_Components/Clutch_Push_Rod_Seal (http://www.autopartsway.ca/partlist.cfm?Volkswagen/1993/Golf/Base/1.9L_L4/allB/Transmission_and_Transaxle_-_Manual/Manual_Transmission_Components/Clutch_Push_Rod_Seal)

What is your guys thoughts? Any thing else i should do sense i have it apart?

x2..

the auto cables are JUNK..

and often take out clutches early.

Mine is 2-pin and that pressure plate should work nicely on a stock motor. That is the stock PP. If the motor is stock, simply use the OEM clutch disc also.

The motor is stock-ish, 1.6 boost pin, fuel up some, boost up some, stright pipe with muffler and TDi intercooler (soon) and intake

you can use a 16v clutch and pressure plate also..

i know the 16v pressure plate is the best/strongest one you can get in terms of stock 020 pressure plates..
