Title: Coolant Pipe - Turbo to block
Post by: rhwyd on December 13, 2011, 01:38:11 pm
Hi all,

The coolant pipe that connects the turbo to the centre frreeze plug on the block needs replacing - it's corroded badly and is leaking.  The P/N is 068121497A (thanks to Will).  Dealers in NA report it as obsolete.  Does anyone have a used one I can buy?  Are there European sources you can share?

thanks,
doug

well, soft plugs are pretty much a 1 time use item..

so, i would get the idea out of your head that your gonna get a used one and re-use it..

anyways, i believe that the VR6 uses some kind of soft plug with a nipple on it.. dunno the part number, but i know it exists.

Just to be clear - I'm in search of the coolant pipe with the banjo fitting on the end connected to the turbo and a hose clamp connection on the other end.  Preferably new but used in decent shape if necessary

oh, you need the actual coolant line, not the special soft plug..

ok, well, look for a used one, best chances of finding one are from europe, because thats where the engine is native..

thats a RARE engine in North America..

Just to close on this...  The pipe in question became obsolete some time in 2010.  I was able to get the part from an official VW website in Europe.

Volkswagen Classic Parts E-shop (http://www.etkashop.com/vwcp/) has the pipe and many other hard to find parts.

It is, of course, in German but Google translate works wonders.  Once I made e-mail contact the conversation was in English.
