Title: 2000 tdi starter pinon teeth numbers auto verses man. trans
Post by: madrogers on October 10, 2011, 05:45:53 pm
 i was replaceing the starter on the wifes jetta , 2000, auto.  the starter i got from the wpg jobber was a bosch reman # sr0407x , pulled  the starter from the car and it has a 1 inch apx pinion with 9 teeth on it , the reman has a 1.125 " pinon with 11 teeth on it ,
from what i can find on the interweb the part number is right but no real talk about the number of teeth.
I belive that  it is the right # but with the wrong pinion on it  can any body confirm the number of teeth on a man. trans starter/ or any other info woulds help before i call them tomorrow about it.
Thanks

at = 9 teeth,
mt = 10 teeth
both 1.8kw
both gear reduction

but. I would wager that they would work OK swapped, but not ideal..

They are also different nose depth and no dice changing heads they are different diameter also! I have a spare auto starter if you end up needing one lmk
