i figure i might as well try this one in this forum, maybe someone from overseas or california can help
i can get 195 45 14 and 165 45 15 which are 20.9" and 20.8" diameter respectively.
i'm looking for something pretty narrow, and low profile in a 14" since i won't be able to go any smaller diameter with 15" wheels.
195 40 14s are 20.1" diameter, but they are too wide for my purposes.
ideally, i'd like to find a 165 45 14, or there abouts. 19.8" diameter with that size.
any help?

The Toyo Proxes 195/45/14's are the only smaller 14" tires I know of. You're not going to find much for 14's. Maybe try Tuning Zubehor - they sell some scary tire sizes.

Can we ask what you are going to do with them? Why not go to a 13" or 12" rim?
-
i need the smallest diameter possible for clearance. need to stay with OE rims, and the vehicle these are going on came with 14, 15 or 16". even if going with a non-factory 13" rim was an option (which to me, it isn't - and i don't think anyone makes anything in that size/bolt pattern anyway) they wouldn't clear the brakes.
..and i don't want to let the cat out of the bag any more than that
thanks for the tips guys, will try tuning zubehor.

VW made a 13" rim for the Foxes, it fits the Golfs/Jettas with the regular sized drums and discs, but not the Passats.

for aircooled actually...not a diesel.
