Title: CV shafts, gasket?

I'm putting new CV shafts in and I noticed that one of them had a gasket included (driver's side short shaft).....the passenger's side did not. Should these have a gasket? I didn't see in "the Bible" where it mentioned driveshaft gaskets.

a gasket doesnt hurt one bit, but ive never had a joint leak without the gasket installed.. the flanges and CV joint are milled flat enough that they create a pretty darn good seal without a gasket in there..

I don't recall ever using a gasket or seeing one for that matter. If you do drop the shafts, I would suggest that you replace the two seals on the axle shaft. Those will leak if they haven't started already.

...re: axleshaft seals? You mean on the differential? Man...just when I think I'm ready to put it all back together, there's something else....*sigh*

Inside the cups that are attached to the trans. Better to do them and spend 30 seconds while its all apart.. if they leak and fill the cv boot with trans fluid they will wear out in short order.

anyone happen to have part numbers for them? It's an FF transmission.
