Title: Oil pan bolt trans side

I was checking stuff out the other day when I put my mount in and I was missing 3 bolts for the oil pan. 2 were easy. 1 is basically blocked by the trans. I know it is possible to put them in with the trans on as I have done it before. BUT I  don't know how I did it. I thought I could get it with my wobble extension, but no way. Maybe I used my bud's wobble socket, but I can't remember. Anyone have any better ideas?

That one is a pain in the @##!!! The oil pan would otherwise be so easy.

I have used a small (1/4") wobble u-joint extension. A flexible extension also worked well:

I think it would also help if the bolts were shorter.

i just did a pan gasket on mine, and i cross threaded both of those bolts (on accident obviously)

now they go in at the angle of attack!  ::)

those 2 are soo easy to cross thread because they thread into the aluminum seal carrier..

i always finger those 2 bolts in, then hit them with a socket after they started in the threads..

Whenever possible, when the pan comes off replace with studs and use nuts and lockwashers from then on.  Helps line up the oilpan in the first place.

you only want to use like 2, or 4 studs tho.. more than that, ant it makes it harder to line it up..

it would be a bit of a bugger to line up 37 studs when re-installing the oil pan..

That is correct Manly,  Just a couple where they are hard to reach and one or two on the other end.  Just to get it started and fittment correct.

I cannot get my hand 1/2 way up there. I am not small at all. I don't think I could get a nut to thread on if I had a stud there. I can't get that sucker on and I need to. I think I used a wobble socket before...I guess I will have to call the snap on guy. I can see I will probably need this again.

1: "by hand," just means you do not use a ratchet, you can use your hand on an extension,

2: you can use a mk4+  oil pan bolt style with the 5mm allen in the center of the bolt and a "wobble" 5mm bit, it's the easiest way.
