I thought I had an extra, but I don't. I need an MK2 rear engine mount. I think the MK3 had the same one.
THE SOLID piece that bolts to the block and to the car engine mount.
Any condition, could even have cracks or missing part of a bolt hole. I am just using it to build solid steel one for VNT or upside down turbo hook up without taking mine off the car. I will then probably make them if it turns out well....I won't charge 250.00 either. It will depend on what the steel will cost but probably around 40 give or take 10.00 or until I don't want to make them anymore.
Let me know
Now has 2 bolt patterns. If you have VW cast mounts with the numbers 191 199 354 A OR 191 199 354 B. This will work. I have 2 cast mounts now and those are the part numbers. Both are 3 hole mounts, but I don't know what they are for on the car end. If you look at yours and it matches those numbers it should work fine.

I have a mk3 I'd be willing to give to you free, all you'd need to do is pay shipping from Saskatchewan Post code S0K1E0.(Dalmeny,SK, Canada)
Let me know if you want it
-
mk3 has 1 bolt flat style mount to subframe while mk2 has 3 bolts onto a v style mount subframe.. so if you plan to do both you need both... ;)
-
i have a mount, if you need it, IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!
its a mk2 TD mount even..

After looking there are a couple of mk2 mounts. Early and late. I don't know but it looks like the late mk2 and mk3 maybe the same. For what I am making the only difference would be drilling a hole in the right spot. I don't need the late style so if someone wants to donate one I would find the right spot to drill and make that an option as well.
This is still in the earliest stages. I just found a mount, I will see how long I can borrow it:D

its a mk2 TD mount even..
like i said, i have an early td mount if you cant easily source one..
and AFAIK, all the mk2 mounts are the same..
i have a 12/92 mk2 jetta 8v, and a 11/92 mk2 16v jetta.. both had the same engine mount as my 85 and 86 GTIs..
if you need it, you can use it as long as you want. i have enough that we can both use them for jigs..
im going to be doing a VNTD install into my 92 jetta soon, before the summer is over. only piece holding me up is the engine mount.
-
thats why he needs to have both aluminum ones to make his jig.. 3 bolt for the mk2 people.. and a mk3 for them.. cannot change the "rubber" mount as the subframe is different for the 2..
sadly mk3 tdi ones hard to find... but maybe someone has one you can borrow.. mk2 all same from what ive ever seen.. but IMO your best off to build both styles into the jig..

Tyler (B_Y_M) is adamant that the TD and gasser mounts ARE indeed different..
-
I don't know about the MK3, i think it's the same. I did a 1.6 TD into a 96 Gasser and all the mounts fit perfectly. The motor mount I bought when I did the VNT this past July, need a hole drilled about 1" way from the current hole at a 45 deg angle. (closer towards the engine, towards pass side). Otherwise the VNT mount fit perfectly. But as I say the MK2 mount on the 1.6 donar car fit the Mk3 without issue.

what about the difference about the mk3 mount having one hole, and the mk2 mount having 3 holes?
THATS DIFFERENT TO ME..
-
Well I am in desperate need of a steel mount that isn't $250 for vnt install, and I have the aluminum you require
-
gas vs diesel on mk2... think there is a releif to allow the td oil return to pass thru the thing.. thats the differance.. not the size/area of the mount.. just a releife built in for the oil line... this is no problem for your design stuff.. some guy on the forum has been battling the how th ehell do you get the oil line apart on his td for a head gasket as its entrapped in the mount..
my b3 1.6td wagon i made with a 83 td engine.. i used gasser mount on it.. :D had to "tweek the pipe... file a little on the mount.. but mine runs down the side vs inside the mount..
ive never seen a mk3 with 3 hole mount.. but canada got odd crap.. so who knows. i think he used his gasser aluminum mount though... just slipped his brain..
-
Right now I am using an MK2 diesel NA mount on my TD. I think as long as the mount will hold the engine in it should work for what I am doing. A pic of the TD mount maybe nice as if I were selling them that provision could be added.
BTW Rabbit on Roids if you still have that mount my other one fell through.
-
LOL... for vnt... no oil return line running thru the mount... ;D so that provision not needed... guy has some eco diesel screen name.. all i know is he was fighting his oil return line to do his headgasket..
ive seen a 250$ mount in person and the provision required for mk2 td is not on it either.. basically the line runs between block and mount.. and well for a almost flat piece of metal would never be acheived.. the 250$ mount is not flat either.. its got a seam in the middle for the different heights of the block mount area is... its was perdy.. not 250 worth.. IMO...

Not worth 250 maybe, but certainly more than $40 ::)

amen to that.. i almost got my account deleted for saying that tho.. so watch how loud you say that..
i was all over how over priced that mount was when he offered it here the first time..
-
I have a gasser mount... $20 plus $10 for shipping.... I skimmed this thread so forgive me if you already told someone else to *** off with a gasser mount. ;D
-
I got the said mount from wdkingery yesterday. I worked out a deal with him so I didn't have to buy one.
Maybe I should have posted that I found one.
-
I have an MK3 tdi and would love to have one of these mounts. Any idea on when you might have these available?
-
I don't come hear much anymore so sorry for the wait.
I haven't started yet. I have had tons to deal with with my car and home. I hope to do something soon. I have an idea for a jig, but like I said, I haven't started anything yet.
You could send me a pic of what yours looks like from the top. If it bolts correctly then I think it will work for the MK3, but the mount I have is MK2. It is the one the rubber mount goes to, not the hydraulic one.
-
Here is a picture of one. Not mine because I could not get a good shot but this is really good and shows the clearance issues.
(http://www.canadubs.com/images/DSC00527-sm.jpg) . I hope you can see this as I cannot paste the picture directly.

thats gotta be a TDI, or an AAZ w/ a VNT on it..
drop a VNT on a 1.6, the interference is even WORSE.

I have the engine stand, mount, mount, engine, head, and stuff ready to bolt up. Shouldn't be long now i hope.
BTW that is the early non hydro mount or if it isn't then the hydro mount and the rubber mount must mount the same. 3 bolts on top. I am going to try to get something going on that 3 hole mount in the next month or so hopefully.

early mount is hydro, late mount is solid rubber.

Negative, early is rubber 85-88 jetta. after that is hydro as far as i have seen in parts listings. This is the rear mount, I don't know about the front maybe it is that way.
-
the hydro mount is the huge round one right? and the rubber one is simply a solid rubber bushing basically..
the early mount was hydro. all my early mk2s have the huge hydro mount. then my later mk2s all have the new style rubber mount.

1986 Jetta diesel = early rubber one

1993 jetta GL 2.0 = this one

1991 gti = later hydro one

all on autohaus

ok, i believe you. you win. lol.
-
Any more word on this?
-
I am making them. 10 pieces should be comming to be put together any day now. I think I am going to sell them at 75.00 plus shipping. I have made some prototypes and think I have a good final design. I will let you know when I get them done...I am lazy in the cold.
-
Have you finished any of these yet?
-
Yes. I sent one to ROR to test. You HAVE TO HAVE THIS MOUNT (http://www.autohausaz.com/secure/PartImages/191199262A.jpg)
For it to fit correctly. He had a hydro mount and things go a bit hairy. I don't have any made to sell, I have one for wdkingery as soon as I know he is in the country again I will send the mount to him....it has been too long and I need to get it to him as I built it in November.... anyhow if you need one and have a couple weeks I could do it. I have to get jimfoo his engine first, otherwise I could make one and get it out tomorrow or the next day.

i dont think you can use that mount in a late model car without changing the subframe.. you CAN use a mk3 mount in a late mk2 car tho..
i would just drill the mount so it works with both types of rubber isolators.. or you could drill it to work with early mk2, late mk2, and mk3..
thats what i would do... build it universal..
-
If someone is willing to ship me all the mounts I would need to make them universal I would do it. I am not going to buy the different mounts and ship them to make it happen, as cost exceeded my expectations already. I just need to sell some right now.
-
Let me know if someone could send me the MK3 mount.
The regular ones are still for sale. Which reminds me that I need to get one to the guy who made this all happen WD, sorry :-[.
BTW this "Should" help if you need to flip the turbo. I found a pic that someone did and it looks like this could help those people too.
-
ill try and locate the mk3 mount. both the engine mount, and rubber isolator, because im going to switch to the mk3 single bolt isolator.. then that takes care of the clearance problem of the 3rd bolt against the turbo housing..
you still need my late mk2 mount? ive been a bit busy lately, and spaced it until now..
-
Yeah I need all mounts but the one that is in my car. Which is the 3 bolt on top, one bolt perpendicular to the 3 on top to mount it in the car. Non hydro mount, it the only one I have. I would like to make it so that all the mounts could be incorperated in 1. Just would have a bunch of holes in it like the multi bolt pattern rims.

that was exactly my thoughts.. drill the mounts with all 3 patterns.
and apparently, there is 7/16ths difference in the bolt holes between the rubber and hydro mount, like we found out.
MY engine mount fit in YOUR car, right? like you had it bolted up in your car at one point, and everything was fine?
-
yep. The ability to swing the mount forwards or back on the pivoting bolt was the key. Since my engine is blown I have time to test some junk.

yea, my mounts dont twist at all.. just stationary. they all have to be lined up perfect, or the mounts will deteriorate QUICKLY.
even tho everything is lined up good, i think my front mount is still being torn apart.. it isnt used to diesel torque. he!!... it doesnt even know what torque is, it had a digifant 1.8 hooked to it before!

Hey it ain't no thing.. Still waiting on the temp to come up anyway.. Whenever yer ready ill get you the $$ some kinda way

I still have around 9 of these ready to be gusseted and shipped out. Just letting everyone know.

mount works great everybody!

but beware, the mount only fits the OLD style mount.. i had to modify mine a bit to get it to bolt up to a hydro mount..
-
It now has 2 bolt patterns. If you have VW cast mounts with the numbers 191 199 354 A OR 191 199 354 B. This will work. I have 2 cast mounts now and those are the part numbers. I have a couple left. This is showing that my jig for the other bolt pattern worked, but it isn't finished. I still need to gusset them. I maybe making them with a counter sunk hole for the mount closest to the turbo to be mounted with a flat socket head cap screw...Need to try one first to see if it is worth it or not. Round 2 if they are ever needed will not be as troublesome as I think I have them worked out now, I hope.
-
Lucas..
i HAD to use the hydro mount for my VNT20 install..
and i had to hack the engine mount up even more..
its only about half as wide in some places now..
you wouldnt even recognize that engine mount now. its been modified 3x now, for 3 different turbo setups..
so, this mount (solid rubber, non hydro engine mount) can only be used on a mk2 with a SMALL vnt.
-
It has 2 sets of holes so it should pass on both setups...the 191 199 354 A OR 191 199 354 B are the engine mounts it replaces.
This will work for the VNT 15 and the stock vw K24, K14, and T3 if you want to put the mount in and install the VNT later.
Also, as ROR stated it can be modified to fit things. I did make it out of 1/4" plate, which is heavier steel than even the axle beam is made of. So if needed to be modded it should take some abuse. The base to start with against the block and the bent support are the main pieces and I am sure that will get you close to where you need to be with other turbos, so it wouldn't be a total loss if you need to mount a VNT 22 or something else.

As soon as I get to it I will have the mount completely universal as far as mounting it to the cars go. That ^ is the MK3 one bolt mount I scored for FREE getting a pair of shocks for a guy today. Guy even let me use his tools to take it ;D
I will make another hole in the drilling jig so that I can have all the holes for every mount in the new ones...now you guys have no excuse but to buy them LOL
-
I have a guy going to test the MK3 mount hole as soon as I can get one to him. I have it done so as long as it fits I have all 3 different mounts ready to go. Let me know what you guys need. Next set will have them all made into the plates so I do not have to drill them after the fact.

Send it over my way and ill test it to make sure it fits on my car as well..
my car is soo late of a MK2 that it has MK3 traits..

my VNT mount is still holding up nicely..
ive forgotten about it being there.. im not worried about it breaking.. EVER.
it was probably plenty strong when it came from you, but once i modified it, i KNEW it would never break..

Bump...I need to pay for engine stuff so someone needs to buy some :D

BUMP.
This will make a VNT 15 fit hanging down in your MK2 or MK3

Bump to this. I am making some now, but cannot seem to find the MK3 hole piece that I had for making the 3rd "set" of one holes for the mk3...headed to find a mount this weekend if I have to.
