Well Most of you guys know my car, For those who don't here it is
1999.5 VW Jetta GLS
Bought it with 209,000KM
5 Speed
Fully Loaded(minus Leather)
I used to actually Drive this car when it was owned by the company I bought it from.
So it was time to retire "Rusty Reliable", She served me well
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/Jetta.jpg)
and this is the Jetta the night we bought her
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/MyJettaDay1.jpg)
and the Morning after I picked her up ;D
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/Day2.jpg)
2 weeks later I had the windows tinted
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/WindowsTinted.jpg)
then a couple days later I got my Roof Racks
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/DayofRoofRacks.jpg)
Then Good Old Rusty Reliable sold, Gulmats Brother bought her and is taking good care of her...so I treated myself
Bosch .216 Injectors from Performance Diesel Injection and a Malone Stage 2 to compliment it ;D
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/222038_10150225840571195_515971194_8936573_4915214_n.jpg)
Then me and Guillaume (gulmat) picked up a 2002 Jetta GLS with leather...I wanted the leather so my TDI got a nice Leather interior
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/Heatedseatswap.jpg)
and heres a picture of her all washed and waxed
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/Mobile%20Uploads/1999%20Jetta/WashandWaxed.jpg)
Ive Also added OEM GLI Tails and smoked side markers
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/7650c46e.jpg)
Then on the way home from having 2 new front fenders installed a moose ran out infront of us... :'( we are very lucky since his head made contact with the front bar first and it kinna sliced his neck...
his knee hit my door
(http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww344/calin_cava/21388454.jpg)
Now on to the Fun stuff ;D
the plans are: Getting a bare block and crank to start with and rebuilding the WHOLE bottom end, included H Beam rods(still looking for a good set)
VNT22
Going to get Giles to build me a 12MM Pump and a nice set of his .260MM injectors
PD150 Lift Pump
Either a PD150 intake or Custom Intake
HUGE FMIC
Port and Polish the head
Custom Cam(1.6TD Cam modded to fit) to drop Compression
Malone Custom Tune
Brembo Drilled Slotted Rotors and EBC Ceramic Pads to Stop that car
the goal is ~250WHP but I have no doubt I might hit 300...before NOS ;)
Its going to be a slow project but going to be intense, its either going to go like h*ll or blow the h*ll up ;D

Gotta really watch moose knuckle on the door. You are lucky my pal.
Why aren't you considering the 23259v??? If you want power go big, stop with the 22 nonsense. Malone has them in a kit I think with a downpipe and all :D

because the GT23359V is too slow to compared to the GT2259V, Ill look into it some more ;)
and for the moose I know, we where cruising near 100Mph when we seen teh moose and I locked it up and he served into the side of the car, if we would of been going slower he would of ran out infront of us and the TDI would of been a write off and me and my buddy would of been hurt bad.
-
So I got the Block and Crank for the start of my build,
Came out of a 2002 Jetta TDI GLS(where the leathers came from lol) its got about 250K on her but the walls are beautiful!.

A cam can not drop compression in a good way...
But I agree that the 1.6 cam is the "hotter" cam
just sayin.
looking like you're in for some fun, I have a similar build going on now, but with a std dia pump and it's going in a mk1, so should make up for it.
-
depends on valve overlap... that would drop compression.. me wants more info on this aspect..

Ive heard a few people running 1.6TD cams and having the pistons machined for Valve reliefs, I'm not really sure on how that works

Cattle-Bug can you take a picture of the passenger end of the block for me?

Yes I can, Ill post it on Facebook and tag you in it

Hey cool project dude! I hope your going to stud that mofo! Are you going to run H-beam rods? are you boreing it out? .040? If your going to do what your saying i would worry about internals. Maybe a block gridle.
When my TDI does something dumb... Meaning when i have to tear into the engine im going to build the *** out of it ;D that is if i have the money then.
Where are you getting the 12MM pump internals? I think you have to start off with a stock 11MM pump off an auto. but i could be wrong.
-
I'm keeping her the same size inside so I'm not boring it. I do plan on running HBeams and a crank gridle, and i need to have valve reliefs machined into the pistons to clear the more agressing cam ill be running (1.6TD cam machined to fit)
and for the 12MM pump, its mainly Cummins 4BT Head and Rotor parts and Performance Diesel Injection can build it.
so a Giles Version of a TDI Pump ;D
-
I'm still around ;) Especially for things like this.
-
So its been awhile, shes parked and hiding down at my parents place since people keep breaking into it when we arent home.
plans have kinna changed from what we where going to build with it to what we are currently planing
Looking at picking up a Street Toys GT2059 turbo, and get an 11MM pump for it. Bigger IC and a more free flowing exhaust. I want to keep it as reliable as possible since we do want to use it as a Daily/Traveler.
Even thou I have a the 2012 Golf, I do miss the raw brute my TDI had :'(
Soon she will be terrorizing the community ;D
-
But your parents house is walking distance??
Also. Who was breaking in to it!? You're in the middle of nowhere! lmao
Here is to hoping doesnt run it in to anymore ditches, snowbanks, moose, or crippled children :).

its 5KMs away parked in a yard with an old man with a shot gun :P its safer there since all my guns are locked up at the other end of my house.
and they people who keep breaking into it know what they are doing, they keep unlocking the rear doors since on a MK4 you go thru the back door with the slim jim.
and Im glad its parked also. went with Guillaume the other day in his TDI and theres hardly no traction on anything lol
-
welll......I kinna left the pump at Giles today ::) its going 12MM ;D Now for bigger injectors and a Turbo
-
Ooooh how does that make the wallet feel????
-
right now...fine :P when i go pick it up after christmas...painful ::)
-
Two giles pumps is more than I paid for my entire car.
-
Catlin.. we coulda done this up no probs. lol. 12mm is over rated anyway lol. WHY DIDN'T YOU GET A 14mm head?? ;)
-
Jeremy I know we could of done it but once i seen the parts i was looking at compared to real ones....quality was an issue :P
and my pump hasnt been started yet :P i can always go bigger
